Mmmm mmmm mmmm. I will start by saying that. I've been looking for some good bbq since I moved out here to NC. This place didnt disappoint.
I love the eating area that the have outside. It's not specifically for Shane's customers, anyone can eat there but it's very nice. With a water sprinkler and a pond. Think summer with no Covid!!!
I was torn on what to get bein my first time here. Ended up deciding on a double meat plate with chicken and ribs. I got a choice of 2 sides with that. Mac n cheese and green beans. Fountain soda. All that was reasonably priced right under 20 bucks which is average for a decent meal out now a days. No complaints there.
The cashiers all had masks on and seemed to be following basic covid protocols which is very good during these times. Ppl are still leery to even come out and enjoy themselves so it's good to see that they try to keep it safe here. There were sanitizer dispensers.
I never use public restrooms but I always check them strictly for review purposes. I'd DEFINITELY use the bathroom BEFORE I come here. I'd never step foot in that bathroom again in my life. I will just leave that there. Thank god I checked it after I ate or I wouldnt have even had an appetite. Dead serious.
Either way. I came for the food, not the restroom so.... The ribs were OMGGGGrrr status. Fall of the bone juicy and flavorful. Real nice! The chicken was excellent as well. Very juicy, fresh and well cooked. Could have used a bit of char for my taste since its bbq. I'm just sayin. The mac and cheese was decent. Cant rate it too high though if we're bein honest. Not bad but...yea...The green beans need work. I'm very critical on green beans though. This is the south though so I have HIGH expectations for greens. These missed the mark by a long shot.
No brisket!!!! Big let down. Bruh!! Bbq wit no brisket??? Sucks big time. Also only TWO dessert option. Peach cobbler OR Brownie. Peach cobbler is off the chain though..
Overall I would definitely come back. There are more menu items I need to try. I will be back in a week or so. In the summer I see...
Read moreMy brief review is this place is average ribs and que. If you want details about my experience read on. I spotted this place while holiday shopping but did not make it back out for two months. To start the layout is meh. The parking is in the rear so we entered through the back door. The front of the place looks cool as there is a water feature pond with decking but the rear entrance leaves a lot to be desired. Found the designated area to place orders. The girl that took our order was indifferent and did not seem engaged. We told her it was our first time here and took a step aside to check out the menu before we ordered in case other people wanted to order. To be clear she wasn't rude or anything, I just felt like they could have put an iPad up and I could have ordered from there and got the same amount of employee interaction. (Have you ever been to Chick Fil A vs a McDonalds kiosk? Then you know what I mean.) We ordered the sampler. Went over to grab our drinks and saw prepackaged sauces. This was my first clue that this was not going to be an epic spot to eat. This is a franchise! Food was delivered to the table and it looked good. The Que appeared to have a light amount of sauce mixed in and tasted like it came from a container not made in house or fresh. Ribs were about the same flavor which is really upsetting since it has rib shack in the name. Tastes like it was frozen and heated up. The Brunswick stew had a smoky flavor. I think they put bbq sauce in there. It was different... The potato salad was good but the mac n cheese flavor was close to a box of Kraft. The prepackaged sauces were all decent. Overall this falls short of other franchise's I've been to that resemble this model (Mission BBQ, Dickeys, City Barbecue). My take on Shane's Rib Shack is that they have a great looking location but need to focus more on the food...
Read moreMy sisters and I went to Shane's after church today. The service was terrible! I don't I've in Raleigh, but every time I come, I make it a point to eat at Shane's at least once during my visit.
The young lady taking orders did not greet us, and only asked if she could take our order. She wasn't friendly nor was she knowledgable of the menu. She tried to tell me what came with my meal. I told her that according to the menu I was looking at, and the picture what came with my meal. The manager then came out... She did not greet a single customer either.
The manager brought my food to the table and it took a while for my sisters to get their food. My sister asked that her green beans be replaced with fried okra. The manager didn't say yes or no, she just took the green beans and went to the kitchen. After a long while, my sister motioned to the manger. The manager looked at my sister and walked into the kitchen. Shortly after, she came out with someone else food. We waited a few minutes more. My sister then went to stand by the kitchen to get her fried okra.
The manager stood at the front counter laughing and joking with the employees, but refused to acknowledge any customers or show a friendly smile. I spoke with the manager and let her know that this was the worst service I have ever received at the restaurant. She kept her same dry face, and apologized that our experience was bad (not that she and her employee were the reason for the experience). I asked for information for the GM, and was told I had to get the info online. I will be making a call...
