The aesthetic at the restaurant was nice. The food did not taste good at all. Our party got the steak, lamb meat balls, fried chicken, and bread. None of it tasted good. Worst of all, when my party walked in, none of the staff asked for our IDs. After being at the restaurant for one hour, my boyfriend, who is a black man, went out to his car and when he returned to the restaurant, he walked in and sat back down at the table. A Caucasian male walked up to him and demanded to see his id. The man did not identify himself, he kept repeating…”I need to see your id bc you walked past me.” We asked him was there a problem? We told him that noone had asked for any of our IDs and we asked why he only needed to see my boyfriend’s and the gentleman would not answer. My boyfriend gave him his id and the gentleman glanced at it and walked away. We sat and watched as several other customers, mostly Caucasians, walked in the restaurant, right past the gentleman and other staff, and none of them ever requested to see there IDs. We were very offended and felt that my boyfriend was being racially profiled. We reported this incident to the manager. The manager did try to rectify the situation by giving us discount on food, my boyfriend asked her if the gentleman would apologize to him. When the gentleman came back and apologized, my boyfriend asked him “What do you have against black people?” The gentleman responded, “Not a damn thing.” My boyfriend then asked him why he was cursing at him and the gentleman said “im not”…even though all members of my party heard him. We then reported him cursing to the manager and asked her what type of establishment allows workers to curse at customers?? The manager apologized and stated that she would send the man home. This was my birthday, i saw urban oak on social media and chose to go there. This incident ruined my bday night. Myself and my bf and the my two friends were very offended and have never experienced anything like that. We will Never return to this establishment. Also, we paid 15 for valet parking, but when we left, the valet guy did not drive out car up to the front door, he made us...

If I could give this place a zero star, I would gladly do it so. First of all, I found out this spot on IG and wanted to check it out with my best friends. One of our friend was in town and we were excited we got reunited. On a Friday night(Easter WKND), we went out for a dinner. Our server, his name was RAVEN. He was so terrible at customer service, I don’t know if he’s even happy to be there or not sure if it’s something related to our “race”. We’re proudly an Ethiopian-African American. Who has every rights, freedoms and privileges to do WHATEVER we want(FYI). Anyhow, my friends and I ordered our food. They brought my food, I had spicy rotini pasta with lamb meatballs on a side. Next you know, we waited too long for my friends food to come. We were like what’s going on, we had to ask a different server to find out because he was never around to be found, never once came to check on us(very disrespectful). Later we found out, he NEVER PUT IT OUR ORDER AT ALL and then the kitchen got closed already. Mind you, he did not even come out to say something about it. One of the manger came out to speak with us and offered to bring my friends some salad with tuna which that was nice. He finally came to give us our bill and tried almost to double charge $80 each of us(HOW INSANE). I literally had one drink and my meal. My friends had just the drinks and the salad that was supposed to be”free” as the manager offered us. Like this ain’t no Miami or NY to even cost that much money on a drink and meal. We told him we are not paying that price and told him to fix. As I was signing my bill and wanted to leave a feedback, he snatched out of my hand the credit card machine and took off( HOW FREAKING RUDE). I have never experienced such a horrible customer service in my entire life and SEEN A RUDE SERVER like that. Pls save your money and go somewhere else from this PLACE. NOT WORTH TO SPEND A...
Read moreUnfortunately I didn't get a great impression of this place based on talking to staff. They were respectful, but their structure on simply getting drinks is strange.
First, you can't really call them. I tried calling their phone number on Google - took me straight to voicemail. So I decided to go there and check out the place myself to see about having a group gathering one night. Manager and staff said you have to be sat down and have service to even have a drink on the rooftop. Even on a slow evening like the one I went. With all that space, people aren't allowed to mingle and have a drink. I also made the point to tell them that the Google phone number doesn't seem to work because I've called it on different occasions and goes straight to voicemail. So the manager gives me her card, and it ends up being the same one from Google which doesn't work 🤡
There's a similar rooftop bar called High Rail, and there is no service requirement to have a drink on the rooftop. You can mingle and all that stuff like any other bar. Brought a group of friends out for it one night and we had a great time.
If sales aren't what they're expecting at Urban Oak due to the rule they have in place, hopefully they make a change. It's a nice looking place but could be costly in the long run if they don't make. I remember the Willard had the same kind of structure and they...
