Chen's buffet — Restaurant in Rapid City

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Horrible food with service to match, to say the staff was rude is an understatement, I had noticed my glass was dirty I asked if i could have a clean glass the server with blonde hair didn't understand so somebody else came out and noticed it said they'd be back.

I figured i can go try to find something to eat while i wait so I get the worst egg drop soup I ever had; when I got back I see a different glass this time red vs clear but it's wet as if just been cleaned however its empty lol I guess i got the glass I asked for but i figured they'd include a drink lol.

So i have to ask if i can please have a drink with my glass and the blonde lady told me I'd have to pay extra.... But i already paid i didn't ask for a dirty glass...

So yeah hardly anything had any flavor, service is horrible at one point the same lady is walking around with a credit card asking everyone at each table if it's their card... Umm that's safe shouldn't lost cards go in the cash drawer or the safe or something ???

Nope let's just ask random people of it's theirs, since i noticed the bank and bank there I asked to see the name , I then said no and she continues to ask others ( had a dishonest person been there they could have been enabled to do wrong thanks to them )

If you're still reading this don't even get me started on bathrooms, how can a place that just remodeled be in such poor condition??? Also the floor in the whole restaurant was slippery yeah I get it it's snowy and stuff but put down some rugs or something.

Has this place never heard of slip and fall accidents? It can happen if you're not being safe, but let's get back to the overall quality of the place .... Is there a score worse than F?

I see this place is open Christmas but please don't go you...

We should have known this was going to be a bad experience when the man at the front desk was too busy playing on his phone to greet us. We then had to pay first, which was another bad sign. The man was very rude the whole time we paid and gave a drink order. Him and other employees walked around chatting loudly across the restaurant to each other and playing on their phones while we where there. The buffet was large, but there were many empty pans, presumably because they weren’t busy and it was 2 hours to close. Everything was room temperature at best. Much of the food was dried out from sitting under the warmers too long. It was clear nothing was fresh. Everything tasted average, nothing special. The fried rice had many very large pieces of onion. Not good. I had to spit the hot and spicy soup out it was so bad. They then began to pack up the food while we were still there, so we couldn’t go up to get more food, despite there being at least 1.5 hours to close. For $16 a person, I expect to be able to leave full. Instead, I went through the Wendy’s drive through right after. It was an extremely disappointing experience. Now I know why I haven’t heard anything about this...

As with any all you can eat buffet, quality will vary day to day, So I never trust the reviews I read on buffets, so take this review with a grain of salt.

I'm happy to say that for my first time eating here, I wasn't disappointed. $12 and a wide array of food at 1pm. Everything was clean and the food was hot. My personal favorite thing was the variety of fresh sushi available. The staff were very attentive, water was always filled and finished plates were taken away quickly. As some other reviews have said, yes, you do have to pay before you eat. This wasn't a problem for me, especially at the low price.

My only dislike is the restaurants location. It's a bit of an unfair complaint though, it's not this restaurants fault that this side of town is crime-ridden. But I still can't shake the bad feeling of leaving my car unattended while I'm trying to eat. I'd probably feel better if I was with a group of people rather than be alone.

With all that said, I'd happily have lunch here again, I'll probably bring some friends with...
