If you are looking for a trendy spot to grab a cup of coffee, Harriet and Oak Coffee Shop is definitely worth checking out. The coffee is slightly above average, but the food menu and interior design are amazing.
The menu offers a variety of delicious meals and snacks that are sure to please any palate. From sandwiches to salads and pastries, there is something for everyone. The pastries are a must try, and the breakfast plates often are mouthwateringly good. They also have a great selection of teas and other beverages to choose from. Whether you are looking for a quick breakfast or a leisurely lunch, Harriet and Oak has you covered.
The interior design is a mix of rustic and modern elements, with wooden floors, exposed brick walls, and stylish furniture. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax and catch up with friends or get some work done. The seating is comfortable and there is plenty of natural light, which adds to the overall ambiance. The place gets a special nod to design from the converted Volkswagen Bus sitting in the main area that sometimes you can sit inside.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the menu or the coffee. They take pride in their work and it shows in the quality of the food and drinks. That being said, the coffee is above the standard coffee shop, however not as good as some of the other local options.
Overall, Harriet and Oak Coffee Shop is a great spot to visit for a tasty meal and a cozy atmosphere. Whether you are a local or just passing through, it is definitely fun to visit and grab something to eat. Just be prepared to stay a while - once you experience the charm and comfort of this coffee shop, you’ll want to sit and stay for a...
Read moreOkay, hugeee shout out to my Grandma for discovering/ bringing me to this place- it’s worthy of being called a hidden gem!
For any of my dreamy coffee shop lovers who always want to find the local place with the best vibes, well Harriet & Oak has got to be a Rapid City stop! It is super adorable- there’s a big open area decorated kind of modern/ farmhouse style, as well as an upstairs area that’s a lot more intimate. And something really unique about them is the big VW Volkswagen that’s hanging out in the middle of the shop! And (not during covid times) you can even sit in it and eat, if you’re so lucky!
Not only does Harriet & Oak win the looks game, but I was super impressed with the food and drink as well. I tried an açaí bowl, which at coffee shops can be iffy whether it’ll actually be high quality or not. But it is confirmed that this one was absolutely fantastic! It was so good that it made it into the best ever list- one of the best açaí bowls I’ve had yet! The smoothie base was just perfectly made and I don’t know, somehow it was just superb and I didn’t want to share it.
The coffee was the same quality as the açaí bowl. I tried the peach cobbler latte (yep, it was a real thing), and just by hearing the name you can probably guess why I got it- because why not? And it was probably about as good as a peach cobbler latte could be expected to be. I liked it but probably wouldn’t get it again.
My grandma got the Black Forest latte, and in a direct quote she said it tastes like a, “warm cuddly blanket in front of a roaring fire.” So anyways. Harriet & Oak is the real deal, and will be on my list of must stops for future...
Read moreNot my favorite place in town. I see so many super high reviews and I decided to be a little rebellious. I'm a coffee regular at many shops in town, no particular favorites. This place has a cool high ceiling, but I think the old wood attracts ticks near the study area above (I've found several on different visits). I do like their tea pot with honey special. However, I find their prices high on many items, such as their morning waffles. If pecans are expensive, then I didn't need 3 handfuls on my waffles if that's what makes it cost 4 boxes worth of waffle mix. Also, I've noticed the demeaner of staff that I've met (I'm sure I haven't met all of them), to being a little cold or quiet compared to other shops in town, key word being 'compared'. It might have just been a few bad moments, but I've visited several times with this obversation. Also, the given wifi password recently did not work. I was sure to be case-sensitive and tried it on several devices, but all devices said "invalid password". It's sure a real bummer to get coffee, sit down, set up, get ready to work and realize you can't. If I want to go somewhere else I'll have to dump out my coffee and buy a new one. Nonetheless, it offers a new environment from time to time. Best of luck...
