I truly hate to write this review because the staff at Lonestar Burger Bar are genuinely nice people, and even the cook came out to apologize for the long wait. However, the conditions under which they are working are simply unacceptable. It’s summer, and I’m sure they are aware that the restaurant is unbearably hot for dining in and waiting for food. The heat inside was overwhelming, and it’s clear that they need to invest in a new air conditioning unit. Additionally, it was evident that there weren’t enough staff members on duty to handle the volume of customers, which put immense pressure on the poor girl who was trying her best to manage everything.
Now, let’s talk about the food. I must say, the burgers were quite good, and I had ordered fried pickles that tasted really good as well. However, considering my long drive, I felt that I could have been compensated for the distance, especially since the main item I came to get—the banana pudding—wasn’t delivered properly.
I had previously purchased the banana pudding from them and was impressed by its beautiful presentation and delightful taste. However, my experience on June 20, 2025, was far from satisfactory. My sister ordered three banana puddings—two for me and one for her. When the pudding reached me, it had spilled all over the bag. It was clear that they knew the pudding was leaking, yet it seemed like no one cared to fix it. I was appalled and told my sister that this was unacceptable.
To be fair, when I called to speak with the manager, Izzy, she was very apologetic and offered to remake the puddings. She informed me that it would take a bit of time because they were preparing homemade toppings instead of the whipped topping. I appreciated her willingness to rectify the situation, especially since I had driven from Dallas to Red Oak, which is quite a trek.
However, the issues continued. There was only one attendant taking orders, which was commendable for her, but it resulted in a long wait. After an additional 50 minutes, I finally received my hamburger, but to my disappointment, it wasn’t warm—it was cold. Who wants to warm up a burger that has extra mayo on it? When they brought the remade pudding back out, it was melted and spilling over once again. They took it back, only to inform me that they had run out of pudding to make more. To add insult to injury, they had the audacity to charge me for the one pudding that managed to stay intact after my long drive. I felt that, given the circumstances, I should not have been charged anything, especially after the long wait and the inconvenience of having to return.
I expressed my dissatisfaction to the attendant, who suggested checking with the manager about removing the charge. However, after waiting an hour already, I declined. I left feeling frustrated and unappreciated as a customer.
In conclusion, while I appreciate the effort of the staff and the quality of the food when it’s done right, the service and conditions at Lonestar Burger Bar need significant improvement. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary changes to enhance the overall experience for their customers. I’ve attached pictures of how the pudding was presented to me, which I believe speaks volumes about the need for better...
Read moreLonestar Burger Bar is my absolute favorite place for Burgers and MORE.
The burgers hit the spot every time! They update their menu regularly with new thoughtful cullunary masterpieces that are downright addictive! And don’t even get me started on the onion rings: crispy, golden perfection with just the right amount of crunch. These aren't the frozen pre-made kind either, they are handmade fresh every time and I love every bit of it. I've been on a real salad kick lately and I must say their salads are amazing too! The ingredients are always fresh and they allow you to customize your salad if you want extra toppings which is nice. I always add grilled jalapenos and grilled onions to my grilled or crispy chicken salads, I highly recommend it!
But the real surprise is the banana pudding. It’s creamy, nostalgic, and tastes like it was made with love, (dare I say, better than grandma used to make.)
Beyond the food, the vibe is unbeatable. I love hanging out in the bar with my favorite bartenders that have become like family. It's a laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Wednesday nights are the best, thanks to their karaoke night of course! Whether you're belting out your best rendition of your favorite song or cheering on brave singers, it’s always a good time. And there are some really, really good singers that come in regularly. So even if you don't sing, you're sure to be entertained. I love that we sit around and pass the mic around the bar, again it feels like friends and family just hanging out having a great time, instead of feeling the pressure of getting onstage to sing. (In all fairness though, I'm a bit bias to the KJ) ;-)
If you haven't tried Lonestar's food, don't miss out. Especially if youre looking for a fun, relaxed place to just hang out with friends new and old. For me, this place isn’t just a burger joint, it’s a weekly ritual, a comfort zone, and a celebration of good food and...
Read moreJust visited 02/2025 and had a pretty ho-hum experience. Been here before and it was alright but service on this visit tipped it over the edge.
I’ll start with the good, the burger was good, seasoned well and cooked correctly.
The bad, we ordered an appetizer… it didn’t show up. When our waitress brought our dinner she apparently didn’t even notice because I had to ask about it. She said she thought it would, “be right out” to which I replied that’s she can cancel it since it was supposed to be an appetizer. A couple minutes later she arrives with the appetizer anyway in a to-go container. Ok, sure, I guess.
In the meantime I started my meal, as I said, the burger was good, however the Mac-n-Cheese I got as a side was watery and bland. So the waitress comes back to check on us and asks how everything is and I say that I was less than thrilled with the Mac…. She says, “yeah, it’s not my favorite either. So do you want me to take it for you?” Her entire demeanor came across as apathy.
For what they charge, I would expect the service and products to be on lock. I won’t be back.
*To reply: The server DID not offer to exchange the side item as I said her only reply reply was, “Yeah, it’s not my favorite either” and then offered to remove it from the table, maybe she thought she did, but she did not. If she had this review wouldn’t be here. Further, I specifically I asked her to cancel the appetizer that was “overlooked” since our main entree had been delivered.
The apathetic part, to me, comes directly from the statement about not liking the Mac herself and not offering a replacement or at least to send a manager over. Maybe it’s an off night, but that rubbed me the...
