Ida's Cupcake Cafe, Redmond — Restaurant in Redmond

I placed a custom cake order with Victoria, the manager at the Redmond location. I was told my order would be ready on a specific date, but I never received any kind of confirmation or follow-up. On the day of pickup, I called to check in and pay for the cake since someone else was picking it up—and was shocked to be told they made an “oops” and they didn’t know where the order form was and that the cake wouldn’t be made because the bakers had already left for the day.

Victoria then called the Bend location to see if they had somehow made it (they hadn’t). They blamed me, claiming I didn’t put down a deposit within 48 hours—something I was never told was required and no one attempted to contact me. I would’ve gladly paid when placing the order if I’d known.

Instead of apologizing or offering any solution, I was told that they could make me a cake two days after I needed it, with no discount or compensation. This was for my husband’s 40th birthday party, which meant he went without a cake. A complete failure.

We won’t be going back. Honestly, I don’t even like their cupcakes (way too sugary and artificial-tasting), but my husband does—hence the order. Never again. Totally unprofessional and unreliable. They just lost a LOT of customers.

Update in response to the owner’s reply I did not receive a single message from this business—despite their claim that they “tried several times” to reach me. Rather than taking accountability, they’ve chosen to deflect and deny. It’s disappointing to see a business double down instead of simply owning up to a mistake. This kind of customer service might fly in a small town, but it wouldn’t stand a chance elsewhere. They have four stars for...

I really wish I was giving a better review today :(

Today is my oldest dogs second birthday, I had been told Idas has a really nice pup cake available that I should check out. I called yesterday and had a great conversation (unfortunately I can't remember the woman's name) and was told to just come in when I wanted to get them because "we never run out" so today I went to pick 2 pup cakes up and was told that they were out. A woman had come in and bought them all yesterday. Now I totally get that happens I do, but in my experience in the food industry you make more when you run out, especially for the next day? But who knows, every place is different and I get that. I'm not sure who the two girls were behind the counter but they definitely don't make me want to come back. One rolled her eyes when I explained I had made a phone call yesterday and what I had been told. Neither.of them offered to make more (which again in my food experience you make more when you run out? If they didn't have ingredients they didn't say that) which I would've waited for. Overall they were just very unwelcoming and short. I left and ended up placing an order at the bend location which I will be picking up later. Annoyed I've got to drive to bend to get something that ought to be in stock according to what I was told barely 24...

Service was ok But: I ordered 4 salted Carmel and 4 red velvet cupcakes and when I walked in they were nice but the lady who was dealing with my order was asking a lot of questions about my cupcakes and what I wanted. She had to ask several times to double check that it was red velvet and the cupcakes were all gluten free vegan. I go home and the red velvet are chocolate not red velvet. These cupcakes are expensive so that's why I'm upset about it. I paid 32.00 for just 8 cupcakes. I sent a picture to management showing that it was in fact chocolate but she was denying it saying their red velvet is sometimes dark which to me is an excuse to get out of comping the customer and come to find out the so called red velvet are not gluten free vegan. They told me they wouldn't do free cupcakes or a refund. Definitely unprofessional and not good about comping customers. If I would have thought that red velvet would be dark which it wasn't when I've ordered in the past, I wouldn't of ordered red velvet. Definitely don't recommend this cupcake Cafe and they will be losing a lot of business because I know a lot of people and have friends that go...
