Ike's Lair of Redwood City — Restaurant in Redwood City

This place is incredible, the lines can get big depending on the day and time you visit. Food is excellent, I went there before lunch time and the wait for the sandwich is about 5 minutes or so.

Ingredients are fresh, the combinations of meat, cheese and condiments are very good. The bread is really top notch, heavy crust at least on the one I ordered, fluffy inside!!

The one thing that left me impressed from this place, is the smiles and great service of all of their staff.

My wife didn't finish her sandwich, she went to the counter to ask for a bag, the guy there said, please bring it over, I will re-wrap it so it won't come apart when you take it home. That was a really cool of him, most places will just give you a bag and that's it.

Overall a bit expensive for a sandwich, but it is worth it because of the fresh and tasty ingredients, clean and cool looking location, and excellent...

When I last ate at Ike's, they were doing this sleazy thing where they used the increase in the minimum wage to slap a $0.75 charge onto everybody's tab. The excuse was, "We need extra money to pay our workers, and since that simply can NOT come out of our profits, then obviously it has to come from you, our loyal customers." Except that higher wages are good for business, meaning Ike's will both make more money due to increased business AND double dip out of your wallet. Oh, you can make a stink about it and refuse to pay, causing you to come off like you don't support higher wages for workers. But that social pressure means most people don't bother. I, for one, will not support a business that engages in such sleazy and manipulative...

Update: This weekend I visited Ike's again and was really disappointed by the poor service. I asked for a slightly bigger paper bag to fit my sandwich and 2 small chips that I had gotten for take out. The girl behind the cash rolled her eyes at me and sighed and handed me the bag. The other girl behind the cash also was very short with customers when someone asked for their receipt she said I already gave it to you don't you see ?!! With a very bad tone ... usually the service is good there but I had never seen theses two girls there before. They might be the bad apples.
