Great pastries and bread. Not the best almond croissant I've ever had but definitely up there. Price is quite high for sandwiches but if that doesn't bother you, i think its definitely worth a shot.
Negatives: Cooks dont wear hair nets, which is why there was a hair cooked right into my egg.... 🤢 But also i saw the cook dude playing with his hair and just tossing it around. (he was the only guy in the kitchen i saw so im assuming hes the cook. If not then my bad.) Either way, he spent his whole time back of house in the kitchen. He looked pretty young and definitely had a young guy blasé attitude.
In any case, a replacement was offered which was good. Just sucks that i had to wait a long time till i got it again. Makes sense that it takes time to get the cheese melted just so, but when ur hungry even like a 1 minute wait sucks, lol.
Aside from that, you can see some staff bringing plates to the kitchen, touching the sinks and other unclean surfaces and then coming back out and handling food with their gloved hands. (pretty unsanitary practice!) People think that just cause they have gloves that no matter what they touch, they're always clean... Might be true for the gloved hand, but if u touched a dirty surface, then touch a mug a customer is gonna drink from, then ya that germ can be found on said mug.
Bread crust was so flakey and amazing. definitely try the sandwich!!
Food is good. Just problems with the employees way of handling themselves...
Read moreI visited this bakery/brunch spot and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. I ordered an avocado toast and requested the egg be substituted with a side of fruit. While they honored my request, one of the berries they served had visible mold on it.
I informed the server, who was busy attending to another table, and she simply took the plate from me without saying a word. There was no acknowledgment or reassurance about what they intended to do next. After waiting for a while with no update, I reminded her on my way out. Once again, she silently took the plate without explaining or offering a resolution. Frustrated by the lack of communication, I told her I no longer wanted anything and left.
As for the food: The avocado toast was underwhelming—it was the smallest serving I’ve ever had, and at just under $20, it was nowhere near worth the price. My husband ordered a French toast and a croissant, which he did enjoy, but that was the only bright spot in an otherwise disappointing visit.
Overall, the poor service and overpriced food make it hard to recommend this place. There are much better brunch options in the Peninsula, and I’d suggest trying one of those instead.
I rarely review places but...
Read more02.05.2025. My brother picked up some pastries for my birthday. Lemon meringue tart. Caramel kougin aman. The lemon meringue tart was super tart, but in a good way. The punchiness of the lemon balanced nicely with the sweet torched meringue. Definitely mouth puckering. Caramel kougin aman was delicious too. The caramel, the flakiness with the pastry, baking perfection (at least to my novice baking palate). My brother also got me a matcha latte, which was okay. Not enough matcha for me. It also was unsweetened (I'm fine with that, I just add sugar myself but for those who are looking to order matcha to keep in mind).
As a fyi, I did find a hair in the lemon tart. It was pretty long and imbedded into the tart crust (we double checked because as a long haired girlie, I get hair everywhere). We had taken the pastries home so we called the store to tell them about the incident. They told us to return to the store and gave us a $25 gift card, which was nice, but one tart is already over $10. I do appreciate that they were attentive to this matter.
Overall, would I return? Yes, to use the gift card lol. But besides that, the pastries were...
