Dear Custodians of Culinary Dreams,
Once upon a summer's eve in Rehoboth Beach, my family and I envisioned an escapade filled with joy, laughter, and the sweet symphony of flavors that only Kilwins could conjure. Alas, what should have been a euphoric dance of taste buds transformed into a Shakespearean tragedy.
We stood at the precipice of dessert ecstasy, only to plummet into the abyss of despair. The order, our beacon of hope in a box, was not just marred—it was a grotesque mockery of our cherished dreams. And the financial dagger you thrust into our hearts with that exorbitant charge? Oh, it pierced deeper than the sharpest blade.
Yet, the coup de grâce was not the shattered order or the gold pilfered from our pockets—it was the cold, stony faces and callous words from your knights of service. From the citadel of Kilwins, which we once revered as a temple of sweetness, came a blow so cruel, it may very well have snuffed out our belief in dessert magic forever.
Now, as the sun sets on our once-joyous vacation, the shadow of Kilwins looms large, a malevolent specter haunting our every waking moment. Each ripple of the ocean, each grain of sand, whispers the tale of our desolation.
I beseech thee, guardians of Kilwins, mend the tapestry of our shattered dreams. Reflect upon the cataclysmic tempest our hearts have endured, right the egregious wrongs, and perhaps, just perhaps, restore a glimmer of faith in the hallowed halls of ice cream and confections.

Read moreEmployees are miserable and lacking basic customer service skills. Was in there two nights in a row during a slow season (october) and never heard a single employee say "hello" to a customer or saw smile. Prices are very high. 1 pound of fudge was $17.95 + tax. Fudge wasn't fresh; edges and middles were hard and had crusted. Both the vanilla and pumpkin flavors were rancid. After trying a small amount and relazing the fudge was rancid, I had to call my family members who I gifted some fudge to to throw it out. Very embarrassing.
I called Kilwin's about the fudge being rancid as I didn't want anyone to get sick and was told the manager couldn't sample any fudge from the case as it was all sold out from the weekend. Days later I called again following up on a refund and was told they tried the fudge and it was "fine." How do you go from sold out of fudge to having tried it?
While in the store we also tried the ice cream. Nice selection of flavors, and they did allow you to mix flavors, but as others have commented the store is very stingy with their scoops. Items such as the chocolate sauce topping were labeled "2 pumps" as to not give any customer anything extra. Tacky.
On vacations I don't mind spending extra on treats, but between the high prices, bad customer service, and crusty, rancid, fudge, I could never recommend this...
Read moreThe ice cream is delicious for sure. Apple pie all the way. The store will be closed from January 2nd to the 24th. Here's my issue. I travel with a service dog, she performs a necessary function, she is highly trained and well behaved. I understand this is a place that makes food so I will not go in if they are in production. Today the counters were stocked, but no production was occurring so my partner and I went in. The "manager" immediately called his very nice and capable employee over and they had a conversation. She then came over and told us we needed to leave with the service dog. I left immediately to quell the situation and my partner remained inside to complete the transaction. My partner informed her this is against the law and she was very apologetic. The manager however walked by this conversation and immediately left the store and walked down the street. Way to be a jerk and make your employee have a hard conversation that is actually against the law. I hope you take some time to inform yourself, we will not return...
