New restaurant with unique dishes but still working out the kinks! Check out the tiling throughout the lobby and restaurant- very unique.
My party went on a Monday evening. The gracious hostess sat us and promptly asked us if we dined there before. I asked her if they’d only been open a short time to which she responded, “Yes, a week”. Seems like she was working off a script and was petrified of her new job but we appreciated the warm welcome and the attempt at fine dining apparently awaiting us.
Our waitress was sweet and also working off a script as if “Sadly we don’t have that” and “My pleasure” were her scripts. Regardless, she was helpful and kind and dealt a bad hand by the kitchen.
She took drink orders and then promptly came back to tell her that each of the three wines we ordered were no longer available. We then went into an exchange about which wines were available intermingling bottles with glasses which was a hot mess. So finally we just summarized- do you have any bubbles left? “Sadly, no”. Do you have any robust reds left? “Sadly, no”. We all eventually all found a new glass to be had of the few remaining. Maybe they had a bust weekend and wiped out most of their wines by the glass. The selection looked great from a wide variety of countries.
Appetizers (fried cheese and shrimp) were huge portions and absolutely amazing! I’ll be going back for light treats and drinks once they get their wine supply back.
My two guests ordered the flat bread for dinner and didn’t prefer them (sauce was too sweet). Unfortunately, they came out a decent amount of time before my $35k filet. When my filet came out it looked brutally slashed in three places which promptly allowed me to identify it was not cooked medium rare but actually well done. I sent it back and Taylor was extremely apologetic but it took a considerable amount of time to come back to me considering we were the only table still eating of the three in the dining room. It also came back considerably smaller. But it was cooked correctly which was great. “Sadly” my dining companions has long finished their meals and I had to get my now cooked correctly but considerably smaller $35 filet home in a to go carton.
Kinks? Yes! But the space is inviting, the front of the house staff is engaged and enthusiastic. I just hope the back of the house ordering and chef can come around to justify the cost of the meal. The appetizers all showed promise of what this space can and...
Read moreOn yesterday, I had the most awesome experience at Sirocco's in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, located inside the Coast Hotel. First, we were wonderfully greeted by Elizabeth, the manager, and had wonderful cocktails prior to our 5:00 p.m. reservation. At 5:00, Cletis, the Host/Server came, took my purse and shawl, and escorted us to our table for two, inquiring if it was comfortable. He set our purses on a small table, and draped my shawl 'carefully' around the back of my chair. I've dined at 5 star restaurants in New York City, and never had that treatment. Our waiter was phenomenal and catered to our every need. I ordered the Parmesan crusted salmon, recommended by the chef to be cooked at a medium wellness. I'm a well done person, but I am so glad I took the chef's recommendation. It was delectably, delightfully, DELICIOUS!!! I had no choice but to tip the chef. The bread was hot and mouth watering. I am a very picky eater, but I ate every morsel on my plate. The greatest compliment to any establishment should be....I'LL BE BACK!!!! That's a guarantee, and I will tell everyone I know about this hidden gem. I only hope, there's enough salmon in the sea, and that their chef will never leave or change up this exquisite recipe. Thank you for a wonderful...
Read moreEverything was amazing from the unique cocktail menu, their signature Manhattan was my favorite.. made by the bartender B. We were given fantastic service by Umi, table visits by their wonderful manager Nick, appetizers (we tried an assortment clams, cheese board, margarita flatbread, ravioli, and chicken orzo soup) they were all OUTSTANDING! For the main course we went with their Filet and WOW! Cooked and seasoned to perfection! The Chef even came out to ensure the temperature was correct on each steak! Even though we were overstuffed we just had to try dessert and we chose Baklava and Cannoli trio which were heavenly, not to mention a pretty fantastic Espresso Martini. You truly can see all of the hard work and dedication that has gone in to this amazing hidden gem! If in Rehoboth make sure to give Sirroco a try, we are already planning...
