So Capriotti's is what one thinks of when they think chain deli. Just like Jersey Mike's or firehouse subs, but without a gimmick like Mike's slicing the meat/cheese on the counter or firehouses formerly wild hotsauce selections. It's cool because they are a newer (technically firehouse is the younger chain, but they reached zeitgeist level faster than this upstart challenger in the arena of chain-delis) rarer chain than those two, not a place you really hear people talk about. This one appeared to be about on par with the Capriottis experience on the surface. Guys inside were really chill and service was great. I got the half sandwich and small salad combo, which is exactly enough for two meals. I opted for a hot Bobbie and the waygu and Bleu salad. The Bobbie was more lukewarm than like freshly warmed, but it wasn't straight out the fridge either. Almost any day is a good day for a gobbler (even if they call it the Bobbie for no explicable reason) and this one didn't disappoint, although I would have put less stuffing and made the ingredients stack vertically on the bread rather than half sideways. The real problem with my visit is I got the salad for a later meal, and it was supposed to have the waygu on it so I could sample that, however it came meatless. The salad was otherwise a good size and had a lot of good ingredients, but I would trade 1/2 to 2/3 of my cheese for some of the beef I was promised. I'm not kidding there was so much gorgonzola cheese (plus some sort of gorgonazola-y dressing) that it wouldn't matter if they did include any meat. You couldn't taste anything besides the cheese when you mix this salad. Overall this was a disappointment for a chain known to be pretty decent, and it's all the worse cause the guys there were...
Read moreCan I give zero stars? Went to this location today ordered a large sandwich with extra cheese extra meat $10.00 for extra meat. Cook made my sandwich and then the cashier after handling my cash grabbed my sandwich to wrap it without washing his hands. I asked for my money back and they went to get the manager who didn't even look at me or say a word to me, handed me my money and starts talking in Spanish to the employees asking what the problem was because she thought they had given me the food and there was a problem with it and I responded in Spanish exactly what happened and again she wouldn't speak to me (the customer). She then told the employees that of course they can eat the sandwich because theere's nothing wrong with it. I left and went to the usual location I go to and had great food and service. Things happen, I get it, you don't train your employees about food safety and the diseases transmitted when handling cash and then food, I guess I get that too but you're losing out on a $35 sale that you already prepared the food, don't you think you should bother to acknowledge your customer or ask them what the issue is ir try to make it right? Also, the other restaurant only charged $4.75 for extra meat, why are you charging double for the meat and double for the cheese? Wish I could have asked you this but like I said, you only talk to your employees but you don't train them right. I hope people don't end up sick after eating there, it's only a...
Read moreI flew into Reno from the East coast and when I got to the airport I was craving a good Italian sub.. my mom is from Jersey, my aunt is an Italian from Brooklyn, I've eaten in some of the best delis in New York, the Jersey shore and Philly...I know food. I did a quick search and Capriottis came up, it looked promising but my expectations were low.. It's Reno. The menu looked solid, a little too busy but I went for the classic Italian cold cut. The wait was terrible.. Maybe 20 minutes but the joint was busy and I soon found out why. My sandwich was absolutely delicious!! Perfect balance of meats and toppings and the bread, which is the key, was on point too. They even have bottles of oil and red vinegar at the tables👌. I don't know about the other sandwiches, I go into a plane for specific things based on what they specialize in and what I want, but the Italian cold cut was outstanding. The place was clean, we had no problem finding a seat and the staff were super friendly. The problem is all the people using apps to order online... The long back up was because of people coming in to carry out online orders... Another downfall of our new world order thanks to the lockdowns... But this place is solid and if you're looking for a decent...
