Huckleberries are only grown in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. They only grow wild and are usually only found frozen not fresh unless you go to a Farmer's Market. This chain serves items with Huckleberries. Needless to say, it reminds me of home and is comforting to me. I usually get the Huckleberry Lemonade. However, next time I am getting Huck's Swamp Tea. My daughter and her fiance had the Swap Iced Tea, which was beyond delicious! I highly suggest trying it. What is a huckleberry you ask? It is a berry similar to blueberries but has its own unique flavor. I suggest you try something here with huckleberries. There were 5 and a baby in our party. I was blessed to have a meal with my son, daughter, her fiance, my grandson, and my husband. We all ordered different items. Our table did share an order of Mardi Gras Beignets. Oh my goodness, what flavor and texture? The pillowy goodness is beyond being able to describe. It comes with a variety of fruit sauces. These beignets are the best I have ever eaten. I can't RAVE enough about these tasty nuggets of goodness. Everyone enjoyed their food. I asked for suggestions from our waitress. She suggested the Mississippi Skillet. Which is exactly what I ordered. I was scrumptious. I had everything a skillet should. Plus there was so much food I heated up my leftovers and had them for dinner. Our waitress was super kind, knowledgeable, and attentive.

Looking for a simple diner for coffee and a snack, I visited this restaurant in south Reno. I ordered the beignets, which were slightly undercooked balls of dough from a deep fat fryer, served on a plate full of sugary fruit sauces (in this corner, strayberry sauce; in that corner, blueberry, etc.) Beingets are supposed to be light, not heavy, so these were disappointing. I also ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, which turned out fine. The service was overly solicitous. The host gives a spiel that is overlong to every customer. So did the waitress. I heard, and overheard, these spiels several times for the 45 minutes I was at the restaurant. This falls under the category of Trying Way Too Hard. The other odd thing was the huge mural showing Huck and Jim on a raft on the Mississippi. I get that this fits in with the restaurant's name, but these days I doubt that most of the customers have more than a vague idea of what or who "Huckleberry Finn" is, and absent this underlying knowledge anyone might reasonably conclude that the restaurant is intentionally celebrating the antebellum days of the 1800s. And that is not a good look, either.

This breakfast-lunch spot is unique in that it has a Louisiana theme, both with the menu and with the decor. The menu features a shrimp Po' Boy, gumbo, and beignets among other things Louisiana. I had The Riverboat omelet which comes with something called "country reds". I couldn't find an explanation on the menu. Basically, Country Reds are Redskin potatoes that appear to have been boiled and then baked along with red and green bell peppers and onions. Interestingly, I didn't detect any Cajun seasonings in my omelette or in the potatoes. I ordered a side of bacon which turned out to be two pretty small pieces for $4.99. The server was fantastic but overworked. Essentially this one sweet girl had the entire restaurant and by my count seven tables while other employees did very little to help her that I could see. So things moved a little slow. Surely at least one of them could have walked around with a water pitcher and helped a little bit? But this was not the case. If this place had one shaker of Cajun seasoning and at least one other helpful employee, it would really hit the mark. It's definitely good and worth four stars.

Food is well seasoned. Of all the restaurants I went to reno in my 3 years of living here, this is one of the few places that season their food. Lots of condiments as well. Server was great and had good vibes. Only real critique not that it's even a critique cause I think the service was solid but when we went it took a bit longer than normal to get the check towards the end.

Maybe it was because there was only 1-2 servers when we were there, but the servers attitude was amongst the best. If she were able to just be a little more attentive, easily a 5 star. Had a heart of gold and you can tell she loves her job. Wish I could've tipped higher.

Atmosphere is great. If you come to Reno and want breakfast, you definitely want to come here. Don't let the 3 star service fool you. I'm just really a stickler for time efficiency (waited about 5-10 mins for the check). If her managers reading the review, don't look negative of the interaction. Simply a learning experience but also if she's not getting enough help, hire more people or let her manage all of the servers so that they can follow her example and maybe she can improve the efficiency of the store.

Lots of times, employees have good ideas but existing infrastructure prevents them from excelling as much as they can.

All in all, I'm coming back, and as long as she is my server, my tips are gonna keep increasing....

I have been waiting for a month to get back to Reno and try this resturant. On June 9, 2022 I got the chance. My friend and I went there for breakfast because I saw they has crepes on the menu. I have read several reviews on their food and we were excited. The employees waited on the table with very little enthusiasm we ordered our crepes breakfast with huckleberries on top. We each got a soda. 2 orders of crepes and 2 sodas were $32. After tip it was over $40. Would be fine with me if it was palatable. The crepes were served very cold, they tasted like thin pancakes and the sweet cream in the middle tasted like It was not made by them but ordered from somewhere that would be selling food to a fast food service. We were very disappointed. After taking 3 b I tested I decided that I cannot eat anymore it was boarder line gross. Sorry but that's the truth. Just about every resturant I have gone to would see I didn't eat and ask if there was a problem. Not here they never commented at all. Bottom line 2 people, neither one of us could eat this food, $40 later we went to Arby's. Unfortunately my stomach was so upset I didn't eat for the rest of the day. I will never go back. I'm wondering how they have received great reviews. There was a group of men complaining about the food on...
