I have been coming to Walden’s Coffeehouse for well over a decade and I remain a loyal supporter of all three locations. The food and drink are consistently delicious and the service has always been exceptional, even when the place is extremely busy. As a vegan, I highly recommend the Corrito or the Avocado Toast without feta. When I want to sit outside and catch up with a friend, I visit the Mayberry location. The Wells Ave. location, on the other hand, is my happy place to settle in with a drink and snack to read or get some wok done. Honestly, Walden’s on Wells was integral to me earning my last master’s degree and I’ll be hunkered down here again as I work on my doctorate. Thank you Walden’s for being an important part of our community for so many years.

Amazing breakfast burrito! Good coffee! Great little find, tucked away in a strip mall off Wells Ave. So, glad I decided to try something new. I felt like going to breakfast but didn't want a huge Black Bear Diner type breakfast. I was in the mood for a café style breakfast and I found this cute little place. Great if you just want a light to medium sized breakfast. Not too heavy. You don't feel like you have to take a nap after you eat here lol. It's healthy, delicious and the house drip coffee is pretty tasty. Plus there is an herb shop and a Wicca store right next to it. So I wandered over and went and bought incense and took a stroll. Great way to start a morning.

Well, when we walked in, the staff COULD NOT HAVE POSSIBLY looked more anoyed.....if i wasn't with a group, I'd have apologized and left. Ordering wasn't much more fun, either. Watching them from the dining room, i felt sorry for these poor downtrodden individuals. The place was clean, bright, and the bathrooms were well kept, but the tables were a hodgepodge of what could be found. It felt like this place has had many different incarnations The quote for the choclate croissant was "If i wasn't hungry i would have stopped " I ordered the breakfast burrito and it wasn't bad and the coffe was good i guess a smile goes a long was but a frown goes further.

It’s unfortunate how a bad experience can change your perception of an establishment. I’ve only ever ordered through Uber or take out and decided go try eating in this time. I wasn’t sure how this place worked, order a s sit yourself or they come to your table, etc. we clearly looked lost, standing in front of the two young girls, no acknowledgement- hi, hello, just a minute, etc. nothing, as they were counting the tips. I finally asked if we ordered up front, she didn’t even look up and said you need to hold on. Great, we looked over the menu, even once we were ready, we still had to wait because they were discussing how they were going to short their co-worker of his/her tips. Once done, one girl was leaving, the other one (black hair, thin, wearing a necklace that said “Milagros”, spoke Spanish) just looked up at us without saying anything. Again, no hi sorry for the wait, what can I get you. Nothing. We order- carnitas torta, breakfast burrito super sized, and decided to get a pastry. None were labeled so I described which one, and she sassily says “the coffee cake??”, like it’s not obvious for someone who’s never tried coffee cake. It took everything in me to not get smart with her. Before the food came out, the black haired girl, drops off the pastry and doesn’t say anything. She brought us a biscuit looking bread. My husband took it back to ask for the correct one, i was facing the counter so I saw her facial expression when he turned, and she rolled her eyes! My husband had to talk me out of not giving her a piece of my mind. I was floored, she makes a mistake and gets frustrated with us? Food comes out. All looks good, my husband then noticed that there is no avocado, sour cream, etc. in the burrito and we paid a few extra dollars for this. He takes it back. By this point the other girl who had left had came back to make her and her family coffee and food. They were talking and the black hair girl tells her that we better tip! I wasn’t planning on tipping from the minute we had our first interaction. I don’t know what makes people think tips are a must especially with AWFUL service. This is a place, you order your food at the counter and clear your own table, and she thinks she deserves a tip for bringing out a plate while having a horrible attitude. I’m going to have to check our bank account too to make sure she didn’t add a tip to our card since she never turned the iPad for us to sign. If the food wasn’t so good, I’d never be back but I think I’ll stick to Uber eats and take out. This owner won’t lose service for some snotty teen/young adults but I hope he has a conversation with them. this is a review for the...

Walden's is always a tough one for me. Their food and coffee is delicious, though pricey. But we'll happily pay a bit more for tasty, good quality food. Everything I've ever ordered from here has been great!! And the breakfast burrito is usually filling enough that I have half left over for lunch. It comes with a fantastic (house?) salsa too!

But the service... I've given this location a few tries recently, and the last few times, they've come up short. We went to order a simple takeout order from the counter. The employee taking our order could not have looked more annoyed if she tried. She entered the order then stared at me as if to imply, "are you done?" To be fair, she didn't say this, so it could be my own discomfort in our interaction. But it is off-putting to walk into a restaurant and feel as if you are inconveniencing someone to take your order. Perhaps she thought we wouldn't tip? We also thought maybe this is just her personality, but the way she interacted with other employees spoke otherwise.

Props to the young man who called our name and then walked our order to us. My hearing isn't always the best and I had my back to the counter, so this was very considerate...

A Breakfast Experience Like No Other!

If you’re looking for the perfect place to kick off your day, look no further! From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for an incredible breakfast. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to love what they do—such a refreshing touch!

Now, let’s talk about the food! Every bite was pure bliss. The [insert signature dish] was absolutely divine—perfectly cooked, fresh, and packed with flavor. The coffee? A total game changer—rich and smooth, just the way I like it. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory, this place has you covered.

And don’t even get me started on the ambiance—cozy, charming, and just the right vibe to enjoy a relaxed meal. Whether you’re solo, with friends, or family, this spot truly caters to everyone.

Highly recommend you make it a point to stop by. You won’t leave disappointed! Can't wait to come back for round two.

P.S-if you like mango or the mango...
