Surprised they have such great ratings. We went in on a weekday and they had a great single man band playing. He kicked ass. Went to sit at the bar and got served quickly by a guy who responded to us asking how his night was and he said āhe didnāt want to be there.ā He took our order and walked off. We didnāt see him for the rest of our visit. We got our meal at the bar along with our drinks and didnāt get talked to for over an hour. As we were leaving the bartender who was super cool said he didn't staff the bar properly with how many people would be there. My gf didnāt get a fork for her salad or a napkin and I didnāt get napkins for my burger which was super greasy, but Iām not mad about that. Food was not great, but Iām sure it would have been better if the bartender or the bartender sitting next to us with her friends would have acknowledged us and got us a beer. She was serving her friends who were 2 of the 6 people at the bar along with another couple who were served 3 rounds of drinks before the real bartender even looked at us. Music was a 10 of 10, service was the worst Iāve ever experienced in Reno and Iāve heard the same from others which was funny considering we experienced the same thing. Bartender was nice and seemed to not give two shits about us being at the bar with 5 other people. Atmosphere was great. Just wish their service was better and hope weāre just a one off! We will never go back.
To your response, when we came in and left I told the bartender about our experience. He was super apologetic and gave us a free appetizer for our next visit in a card. I wonāt throw him under the bus because I have a feeling he meant well, he was just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I decided to visit The Fox this past Saturday afternoon, opting for the patio seating by the rail, under a haphazardly secured banner. Unfortunately, this setting resulted in an unnerving incident. A strong gust of wind lifted the edge of the banner and a master lock used to weigh it down hit me in the head.
Regrettably, the response from the restaurant staff was far from satisfactory. A casual inquiry about my well-being was followed by a half-hearted apology. Their indifferent attitude was even more obvious when, despite my growing headache, no further attention or aid was given. This lack of concern was distressing, considering that the injury could have been far more severe had the lock hit my eye, nose or mouth.
When we reached the end of our meal, we were presented with our full bill. No acknowledgement of the incident was made, not even a small gesture such as covering our flight of beer was offered. We still tipped. The managerās disinterest was rather flabbergasting, as they never even returned to properly secure the banner, but merely tucked it into the rail.
Disappointingly, up until this incident, the service had been excellent. However, the staff's nonchalant handling of a situation that resulted in an injury has left a lasting negative impression. This disregard for patrons' safety and overall satisfaction unfortunately leads me to the decision that we won't be visiting The Fox again.
Significantly, this review is not just a complaint, but a serious call for the management to reconsider their safety standards and how they handle situations involving potential harm to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreForward ~ I am a foodie and a bit of a fish in chips snob.
Was a big fan of Silver Peak Brewery in the day and happy to se the facility reopened.
Great beers, btw.
Wasnt always a fan of The Fox , CC location, formerly the Firkin Fox. Four most recent attempts at good FnC's were not good. Spongy grease-filled pockets, that I think had fish in them. It has been years (@4) since my last experience.
Had to try the new location. Its been some time and .... can't be the same fry cook...right? Plus, I had to get beyond my bad FnC's PTSD.
Always loved this location, mid-town, and the place feels as familiar as the old SP Brewery.
Beer is also fantastic, BTW.
The fish n chips... The fish was good, very fresh, firm, and flaked very well. The batter, a little thick, so was a little greasy inside, though not from the fry, but from the fish. Crispy on the outside, but a bit overdone. The fries, underwhelming....A bit dull, not crispy, a little bit 'from the bag' taste. Maybe a thicker fry, maybe fresh...dont know. The batter and the fries (chips) knocked it to a barely 4.
I might even give the CC location another try.
BTW...Autumn is an awesome bartend, very friendly, attentive, and good sense if humor... probably because I didnt unleash the dad jokes.
All enough to...
