I'm giving a one star because of my experience at the Renton location. It was during my lunch time, and I was late getting back to work because of what happened. I LOVE L&L and always enjoyed eating here, but please, I want to bring light to a bad experience I had at the Renton location. They easily get flustered over at that location when they are busy, or whatever you call it. So, I come in just for a simple pick-up and go. I enter and go to the counter and the girl at the front register is on the phone with a customer, which I DO NOT MIND AT ALL. I wait patiently, but then the time starts getting longer as I see the girl on the phone is getting frustrated with the customer, which I can tell by the tone of her voice. Anyway, as I'm waiting patiently, other employees just pass by behind the counter without even acknowledging, not only, myself, but the other customers who were in line. After a LONG period of about almost 30 mins, the girl finally gets off the phone and I finally get to tell her that I was there for pick-up. I was not frustrated with the female so much, but frustrated with the other employees who just stared at me and walking by behind the counter looking as if mocking my impatience. Which, honestly, I was getting frustrated and upset, but I was being patient. After about almost 30 mins I finally got my pick-up order. I had the absolute pleasure of dining at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue in Renton, WA, and let me tell you—this place is a hidden gem! Coming all the way from the East Coast, I was craving something flavorful and satisfying, and L&L delivered beyond my expectations.

I ordered the Combination Platter of the Barbecue Mix, which came loaded with barbecue chicken, barbecue beef, and barbecue short ribs—each piece grilled to perfection, juicy, tender, and packed with that rich, smoky Hawaiian barbecue flavor. The platter came with rice and a creamy pasta salad, and I added an extra side of steamed vegetables, which rounded out the meal perfectly.

I also couldn’t resist ordering the musubi, a delicious block of rice topped with a choice of meat, cooked with barbecue sauce, and wrapped in dried seaweed. It was simple yet so flavorful—truly a must-try!

Beyond the amazing food, the hospitality from Ernesto and Jeanette made our visit even more memorable. They made us feel right at home, welcoming us with warmth and kindness. Their service added to the experience, making it one of the best dining stops on our trip.

This location needs better PROFESSIONALISM and CUSTOMER SERVICE training. I went in for an easy pick-up order I placed over the phone. When I arrived, there was only cashier/customer rep behind the counter and she was on the phone taking another person's order. I waited patiently until she would get off the phone, but for some reason she took longer and did not get off the phone. I had to leave soon because I was on my lunch break. I asked another person who walked behind the counter (I think a cook) if I could just get my order and go, but he just stood there staring at me. The female employee eventually got off the phone and handed me my pickup order. No apology, just gave me my order and that was it.
