One doesn't go to the pub 99 for a culinary experience inspiring wordsmithing. One does, however, go to the pub 99 when in need of a electric car charging station. Which is exactly what drew my wife and I. That, however, is not the muse that inspired this review. My wife and I saddled up to the only vacant area of the massive bar at this fine Revere establishment. The entirety of the bar was full, minus a curious section that wasn't where we sat. Soon, however, we'd learn why. A "Loud talker" was speaking ( nearly yelling ) on her cell phone, highly inebriated, and obviously seeking attention. I wanted to leave almost immediately, however, my wife was enthralled in the woman's conversation so we stayed, ordered our meal, some drinks, and listened to this woman weave drunken tales loudly over her phone. When she requested her next drink, she was told she had to eat. Apparently, shed been there for hours, consuming only popcorn. That's when we realized that at the 99 in Revere, dinner and drinks included free theatre. A managerial escalation later, and there was nearly full blown combat at our section of the bar. And...within a few more moments, almost every patron at the bar had their phones recording the heated situation unfolding. The police arrived shortly thereafter, and our beloved barmate was escorted out, in a flurry of profanity. The food, you ask? Who gives a hoot. This place has some of the best entertainment in the...
Read moreDecided to try this place for the first time on Friday night around 8:30. Waited 15 minutes for a table which is normal for a weekend. We sat down at 8:45 with our menus and was not greeted by a server until 9:00pm. We were thinking about leaving at that point, but I wanted to give them a chance. The server was Lisa, a very friendly lady, but I could see they had her at roughly 5 tables. We ordered beverages and the meals at the same time. Lisa brought out our beverages and my soup fairly quickly. It was 9:30 and we still did not have our meals. Lisa kept coming by saying it was coming. I eventually walked to Lisa and asked her to place the meals in to go boxes because our son fell asleep by this time. Before Lisa could do this, the manager and a runner brought our meals out and I asked for to go boxes. Instead of the manager making it right or even saying a words to us, he walked away. I still tipped Lisa because it was not her fault of course, but this restaurant does not operate well. We ended up paying $60 for mediocre meals that needed to be warmed up when we got home. Also, what's with popcorn as a complimentary starter? Needless to say, I do realize it was Friday but go to any Texas Roadhouse on a Friday evening and the customer service and speed is superb. We will not return to 99 restaurants. I'm not sure how it has been in business as long as it has. To...
Read more(Skip to where it says issues if you want to just read that part) We're up here (from CT.) staying at a hotel for the night since our son has a cardiology followup in Boston tomorrow morning. It's Easter and we decided to order something for dinner. To our delight, we noticed that there is a 99 restaurant not far from where we're staying. The location near us back home closed a long time ago so I immediately knew that I was ordering their amazing boneless honey bbq wings. I called to place our order for pickup and noticed that there were 2 sizes for the wings. I asked what the difference was and learned that the $10.69 order of wings had 8-9 and the $13.19 XL order had 12-13. I chose the XL order to split with my son while my wife wanted a wrap. We were told 15-20 minutes and our order would be ready! Fast forward 20 minutes later and we were sitting in the car waiting for our order to come out. After 10 minutes I went in to see what was taking so long and there on the counter was the order which was left out. We arrived back at our hotel 3 minutes later and that's when we found the...... ISSUES: The food was room temperature at best and needed to be reheated in the microwave. The French fries were insanely soggy. LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THESE WINGS!!! I don't remember them ever being that small. That is a 20oz drink cap...
