Irie Jerk Hut #2 — Restaurant in Rich Township

I am so conflicted! Okay so background- today I was craving jerk for brunch and thought I'd try a spot I've never been before (I usually go to jerkngo on vollmer in Olympia Fields, IL) I try to support Richton Park business whenever I can and I wanted good food that I can fit into my lunch break. They were not busy even though they have lunch specials and I came during lunch so I expected an in an out experience.

Cons- *I waited 31 minutes for my food. Im serious. Check out my screenshots. Yikes! Not convenient at all for a lunch break. Especially if you decide to tell your customers that the wait will only be 25 minutes. This is a pet peeve- respect others times and schedules and be up front about wait times or meet the expectations on punctuality. I would recommend calling ahead before coming to save time. 30 minutes ahead. *The food was boiling hot. I couldn't eat it right away without burning my mouth which sucked because A) they already ate up 30 min of my time lol & B) it looked and smelled so amazing and I was running out of time to dig in. Ugh lol I am a fan of hot food where you only need to toss it around in your mouth for a half a minute to consume it lol but not boiling hot food. *while the portions were legit as shit, I was not a fan of only 2 pieces of plantains- be generous my sisters and brothers! *I tried the bbq jerk chicken and instead of it tasting like jerk chicken with bbq sauce, it was kind of liked baked bbq jerk chicken... if that makes sense? Look at the pics. It was definitely okay in taste, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting jerk chicken rubbed or tossed in bbq sauce. I also believe they use open pit bbq sauce, which I personally am not a fan of *No bread with lunch special and that's just wackness in my opinion lol definitely consider amending that people.

Pros- *Smells and looks fantastic! Enjoy the pics! *All of my sides tasted bomb! (Going to have to circle back and try their original jerk chicken before I add input on the chicken) But the sweet potatoes/yams are FACTS family! *I definitely wouldn't mind coming back. *portions are insane! Very generous! Minus those plantains & the chicken- they a little stingy on the bananas & chicken. *Staff was attentive lol and they weren't mean and we know that is a must have from a jerk spot, right?

Amaaaazing. Went in today right around 11 when they opened. Waited around 15 minutes, totally worth it. I was so sad that our usual jerk chicken place closed but so glad we found this place. The girl behind the counter was SUPER nice. I'd return just for the service. She was so nice and smiling the whole time. I found out they have another location closer to me but will probably just continue to go to this one since it's not that much further and their customer service is awesome. Oh, and the food is the best. Chicken was perfectly cooked, super juicy. The sauce is hot but I smothered that on everything. My sinuses are super cleared out now. The cabbage is also AMAZING. And the portion sizes are large. My mom and I both saved half of our lunches for tomorrow. I got the dark jerk lunch and she got the white jerk lunch. Both were perfect. Honestly. The rest of mine is in the fridge and I'm contemplating going and eating it now because I'm writing this and thinking about how delicious it was. The red beans and rice we're a tiny bit bland so mix that sauce in, trust...

The front lady was so rude when I called to make an order. I could already tell she had an attitude, I placed an order on my lunch break and when she said 20 minutes I realized my break is not long enough. As soon as we got off the phone I immediately called back to cancel and told her I’ll just come and get a beef patty since I was told by her (previously) & saw for myself in the past that the beef patty’s are already made. She immediately got an attitude rasied her voice and said “ YOUR BEEF PATTY WILL BE MADE WITH YOUR ORDER”. I raised my voice back and told her I’m still canceling … My plan was to still come get a beef patty but she made it seem as if she couldn’t give me one if I didn’t keep my order. My order had not been made already because I canceled it immediately after I made the order. She basically tried to hang up real fast. She needs to do better because I was a loyal company but they won’t get my business anymore talking to me like that . And...
