We had a hateful experience fostered by the leadership of this restaurant. We felt disliked by the staff. We were in disbelief as a waitress had a child-like temper tantrum after she unfortunately made "table-side" guac with tomatoes, which our guest was allergic to. We weren't going to say anything, but she asked how the table-side guac was, and so we unfortunately replied we would have held the tomatoes. She behaved as if we were lying about a tomato allergy. She had actually stomped off at the moment we ordered table-side guac. I don't think Mena's explains to the staff that people order table-side guac to choose ingredients. But, when they make it at the bar, out of sight, you don't have any input with the ingredients. But the guac is not the problem. She gave us angry looks throughout entire stay. We told her that it wasn't her fault if making the guac at the bar is the standard at this restaurant, but that did not matter. She became irrational, got the manager involved even though we asked her not to. It seemed like she felt she was going to be required to redo the guac and over-reacted in a way that would normally get someone fired. There was something "off," but her getting her manager was her way of not having to redo the guac herself, however, the big deal she made about it never fully made sense. And after that we felt ganged up on. The manager excused the waitress's behavior by saying, "it's easier for the staff to make the table-side guac at the bar." He was totally clueless that her temper was her problem and that we hadn't even really complained. Not understanding reasons a customer orders table-side guac over premade guac, though, brings out the resentment toward guests for ordering it. The manager said that the guac from the chef was good with the implication that we were somehow problematic for even ordering table-side. He also said in an acusatory and sarcastic tone that the salsa had tomatoes in it, as if the tomato allergy was a made-up issue. This is an attitude toward guests that definitely comes from the top. When the manager decided his course of action was to remake the guac, he still brought it to the table already mixing combined ingredients, lol. He was very passive-aggressive. We felt he hated us. We just went along with it because, believe it or not, we always try not to be problematic customers. But sometimes, you're just the target of an establishment's prejudice, and you have no control over it. 2 of the guests at the table were afraid the manager spit in the guac, if that tells you anything about his visible passive contempt observed by all. When I was a waitress, I knew the business giving me $2/hr wasn't who appreciated me or paid the bills. It was my customer. I always knew who was really paying me and who was really generous towards me. And if I was training a young person to make the most money, I'd say, maybe the standards of this business say you can be resentful to customers, but the tips are really your paycheck. Trying to do a good job is noticed and rewarded with good tips. I realize that the table who initially orders all waters to drink and wants table-side guac to start might not be what you want, but hold the attitude and be patient. Your kindness and doing a good job anyway will pay off. Having a bad attitude and contempt for the customer is just never successful. People with contempt for others don't find success in the service industry. If you genuinely like people and are genuinely nice, you will do very well. If not, this is probably not the business in which you will find happiness or success. Personally, we regularly pay 25% to 100% tips to servers. Something is really toxic with this restaurant. It felt hateful. I'm not going to say why, but you know hate when you feel it coming to you for no good reason. But, please work somewhere else if you just despise making table-side guac. Or maybe Mena's should just take it off the menu if they don't really offer it. But don't take your job dissatisfaction or the hate you carry around with you out...
Read moreMy sister and I went to the Richardson location since it was closer to my sister so we could meet on March 4, 2023. I had ordered 1/2 nachos. My sister ordered tacos. Was waiting a while for our food. It finally arrived. Correction. My sister never ate anything. I was the only one that was able to eat my food. While doing so I had noticed my sister pulling out a blonde long, stringy hair out of her taco like it was apart of the ingredients. I had in braids. My sister hair was wrapped up plus neither of us had blonde hair. We called the manager over immediately when she seen the disgusting hair. My sister asked the manager is all the employees wearing hair nets. The manager said yes and all have short hair. Which we seen employees with long hair and without hair nets. My sister let the manager know that she found a hair in her food and she never ate the food because of the blonde hair she found in the food. The manager said that he can remake her order and won't charge her anything. Only way he would charge if she gets something else (still shouldn't charge found hair in food) which she refused and still wanted her same order because she was told it was free. I suggested that my sister pay half or the meal goes free because of the hair finding. Not my meal. Because I didn't see anything wrong with mines. As we were about to pay off the tab. My sister noticed that the charge of the tacos she ordered was still on there. I had called over the same manager that we had talked to before to let him know that we were still charged for the tacos. The manager came up with any excuse to why he felt he should still charge my sis knowing that the hair didn't come from me or her. Plus. Had the nerve to say the order was wrong. And tried to find any reason on why it shouldn't be free. So. You mean to tell me that my sister was suppose to pay for something that didn't belong in her food. She could had gotten an allergic reaction anything because of the negligence of the kitchen not wearing hair nets and the employees on the floor. I had even said half to pay for her meal. I could of been like both meals are free. But I didn't. My sister told him if she knew that she was getting charged by finding hair in the food. She wouldn't had asked to make the same thing again. After pleading our case. He took the charge off for the tacos We felt that the manager didn't take the situation seriously. The manager was trying to make it seem we were trying to get over from paying. How? When a hair was found in your customer's food that came from your kitchen. My sister even told the manager she has been to other Mena except for that location. And she likes the restaurant. After coming to the one in Richardson and how the manager handled the situation. We wil NOT COME back. I wish I could give this...

Mena's Tex-Mex Grill is a trendy Tex-Mex restaurant with a lively atmosphere and a menu of classic Tex-Mex dishes. The restaurant is located in a shopping center, so parking can be a bit of a challenge, but there is a garage nearby.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us promptly. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. We started our meal with a basket of chips and salsa. The chips were warm and crispy, and the salsa was flavorful. We also asked for the spicy salsa, which had a nice kick to it.
For our main dishes, I ordered the brisket chipotle tacos and my wife ordered the nachos. The tacos were good, but the chipotle flavor was a bit lacking. The brisket was tender and juicy, but I would have liked more of the chipotle flavor to come through.
My wife's nachos were delicious. The chips were piled high with cheese, meat, beans, and all the fixings. The nachos were also topped with a generous amount of guacamole and sour cream. My wife said that the nachos were some of the best she had ever had.
Overall, we had a good experience at Mena's Tex-Mex Grill. The food was good, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was lively. I would recommend Mena's to anyone looking for a casual Tex-Mex dining experience.
Here are some additional thoughts on Mena's Tex-Mex Grill:
The restaurant has a nice outdoor patio, which is perfect for dining on a warm day. Mena's has a full bar, with a variety of margaritas, cocktails, and beers to choose from. The restaurant also has a happy hour, which runs from 2pm to 6:30pm Monday through Friday. Mena's is a popular spot for families, so it can be a bit noisy during peak hours. The restaurant is also a popular spot for sports fans, as it has several TVs that show major sporting events. Overall, I would recommend Mena's Tex-Mex Grill to anyone looking for a casual Tex-Mex dining experience with good food, excellent service, and a...
