Stopped by here for lunch today with my girlfriend after reading the reviews about how nice, friendly & attentive the staff was. However for us, a young black couple, got treated the exact opposite way. As we walked in, we weren’t even greeted by the manager who was hosting at the time. “Just you two?” is the only thing that was asked as we walked. Shortly after that he took us to our table & told us that the waitress would shortly be there. She walked passed us a couple times before even acknowledging us. After finally coming to take our drink order, she still doesn’t greet us or ask us if we have any questions about the menu, this being our first time. She gets our drink order & in process of bringing our drinks out to us, she walks pass us & takes another couple their drinks, stop by another table & drop something off & then proceeded back to bring us our drinks. After taking our order, she not once came back to check on us, refill our drinks or give us an update on our order. The restaurant isn’t even that busy at this time. But after waiting for about 20 minutes, we finally get our appetizer from the manager, who again barely says 2 words to us. As our waitress continues to keep walking pass us, I finally get her attention enough to bring me an extra condiment. She says she’ll bring it bright back out. 5 minutes go by & she’s walked passed us twice without what we asked for. Then she finally brings it out with our food. By this time, we’re uncomfortable & no longer want to eat here. I ask the waitress to get us a manager & when the manager comes back to the table I explain to him how we chose this restaurant because of the reviews about the friendly staff & how they were so attentive & made customers feel like family. I explained to the manager how we got the exact opposite of that & that we were now uncomfortable with eating here. The manager couldn’t even say anything after me explaining to him multiple times how our waitress, as well as himself wasn’t being friendly or attentive to us. After asking for the check & to go boxes he finally apologizes for their lack of service & southern hospitality. After the manager left to get out to go boxes, we tasted our food & was instantly disappointed. The macaroni & mashed potatoes were cold. The hamburger steak & pork chops was not only overly salted, but tasted as if it had been sitting out for awhile. The manager did say he would take care of our bill once he brought out our to go boxes out, which is probably the best part of this whole experience. But overall, we will not be returning. It was definitely a racist environment & it made us feel very uncomfortable to see everybody else get serviced, while we...
Read moreWhile driving down to Florida from New York I had meant to stop at a golden corral on my way as I normally do, not knowing I missed the chance I had looked up and saw the billboard that would change my life forever. Once I gazed upon the word 'buffet' I immediately knew to get off the highway, but at that moment I didn't know why. I walked up to the doors at 10:50, and had been driving for about 10 hours by this point, my stomach shriveled and gasping. Not knowing still to this moment what the name of the restaurant was, my only thought was hunger, I proceeded inside to the place that will forever ruin and future dining experience for the rest of my life. I have never before eaten food like this. I see many people compare it to mommas own cooking, but only in her dreams can my mother cook such succulent dishes of gold. As I walked out, belly swollen with meat and potatoes, I still had forgotten to look at the name as I drifted to a place of bliss only written about in the bible. The chicken was perfect, the price felt as though I was robbing you, the cornbread was so delicious I forgot my name after ingesting it, the macaroni and cheese was so disturbingly good I was convinced I crashed my car on the way there and was in heaven. I could go on forever about everything that makes this easily the best restaurant on the entire planet, I wholeheartedly mean this. I was in Florida for 4 days, and every night I had the same dream. I woke up in a white universe, with nothing but me and this establishment, where I could eat for forever. My way back up to my home started early this morning. I woke up with a single goal, locating this place with nothing but instinct. I'd be lying if I said anything other then Jesus brought me here again, after searching for the name over and over i located it, and my journey was started. I landed in the parking lot again, at 10:50. Waiting in anticipation for the moment to strike. I walked in, I did what needed to be done, and was more complete as a person then I have ever been in my life. I will be telling every person I've ever met in my life to go here, and pay if need be to get them there. I have but a single complaint; I have but one stomach to fill. If I could come back as a cow in my next life I'd kill myself tomorrow so I could walk in and use all 4 stomachs. I love you. Every single person who runs this place will forever have a special place in my heart, and I will sing these tales for generations to come, so they shall all know the name:...
Read moreBubba's Bistro is located along US 17 in Richmond Hill, just east of the interchange with Interstate 95 at exit 87. Heading east, it will be on the right side of the road. My visit here was for dinner on August 23, 2022.
The outside is no frills, but it is still a solid place. There is a sign you can see from the street on Hwy 17. Once parked, they have an area with their name on the building as well as a bench and some chairs outside. On the sides of the entrance to the door you will find a welcome sign and the hours of operation. We got here around 4:30 pm, so it wasn't too busy at the time.
Once you come inside, you can see the bar in front of you. We were immediately seated at a table and the one who seated us was also our server for the visit. She gave us some menus and asked what we wanted to have to drink. For those that drink soda, they have Coke products. My mom got some iced tea while I stuck with water.
After taking a little while going back and forth on what to choose on the menu, I ended up going with the Mix and Match Fried Chicken with a Breast and Leg. I got to choose two sides, so I went with the fries and macaroni and cheese. My mom decided to go with the Fried Shrimp with one side, choosing fries as the side.
After about five to ten minutes, our orders came to the table. Everything looked good and it was very hot. My mom asked for some cocktail sauce for the shrimp. She brought the cocktail sauce over. My mom said it was hardly a cocktail sauce, but almost just ketchup instead, which she already had for the fries. The Fried Chicken came out as ordered and was also very hot. I did like the fact that it wasn't greasy either. I started on some of the fries first before devouring the chicken so it could cool down a bit. The fried chicken, both the leg and breast were really good. The fries were hot too and were just the way I would like my fries. The macaroni and cheese was also very good. By the time we were done, we were both full. We had talked about maybe doing a dessert afterwards, but we were both too full to do one.
Overall, this was a very good experience. The server was attentive and on point, especially with the multiple water refills. The food was very good too. This is a solid place to come and get some good southern comfort food in the area. The pricing was good compared to the size of the food as well. If you're in the area, this place is...
