Absolutely, 100%, without question, the very best, most exceptional, superior sushi joint in the Bluegrass region, possibly eastern seaboard... I make this statement based on extensive sushi experience all over the US. I don't and won't claim to be an expert or food critic by any right. I will profess my love and devotion Khin's Sushi for their raw fish and rice protection. I first sampled their fare over eight years ago via a local recommendation. I was mind blown and left satisfied. How could this place exist in lil ol Richmond, KY. I was surprised and so very comforted to discover a place that met all the desired parameters. I am a 6ish times a year or when the mood arises/energy or hungry doesn't want me to wait for home to eat or to satisfy the craving. The consistency is undeniable. I am one to write a place off very quickly and never return if left wanting. Khin's has always come through with the very best. Granted I get the same thing every time as I am a why switch it up when you know what you want and what works. Tempura Shrimp Special Dragon Roll. Brilliant. At just over $10 the size, freshness, quality, and time from order till it hits your tongue is all on point. Not to mention the staff could not be nicer. All around this is the place for me and sadly I am left wanting when I venture off while out of state or too far from Richmond and try another spot. Nothing compares. I highly recommend you try Khin's on for yourself and see what your taste buds fancy. Thank you Khin's for providing a great all...

I debated for a while if I thought Khin's was a 4 or 5 star experience because I think it should take a lot to be worth 5 stars. At face value Khin's is a pretty basic experience. Your order is served in individual carryout containers whether you dine in or take out. No fountain drinks here, instead there is a large glass front drink fridge full of all sorts of canned beverages for you to take from. You dont order your drinks directly but are given a number depending on how much your order cost. The establishment itself is kind of small so if you want to dine in you may find it a bit cramped, especially during lunch. I dont find any of this to be a negative, but it does make the experience seen kind of ... whelming.
With that said, the portion sizes are bananas. Those takeout boxes i mentioned? They hold one roll each. Most rolls are 10 pieces with some "smaller" rolls being around 20 pieces. All that for 6 to 9 dollars a roll. Khin - i assume the owners name is Khin at least - and his wife are always happy to greet you when you come in and go out of their way to get you what you want. Everything my family and I have ordered has been excellent. My wife especially loves the egg rolls. I mean I guess my point here is that behind that whelming exterior there is real...
Read moreOmg he has the best sushi. Dude used to work at kroger doing the same thing, left them to do his own thing. The sushi is huge compared to kroger, walmart or Meijers. He's usually pretty busy because his sushi is awesome. If you get a roll of sushi and its the last of the roll, he'll give you the "butt" of the roll. It's like this massive piece of sushi that takes 3 bites to eat, you can't shove this in your mouth in one go. You do get free sodas, it's supposed to be like 2 sodas every $7 but I feel he doesn't follow that system. I've spent $15 and he's told me to take like 6. He also very firm with you taking the sodas, i dont need that many, even with just water bottles but he'll tell you to take them anyway. I've tried to argue twice that I didnt need them. "No. You take 4." ... I take them, no harm no foul. They usually sit in my fridge until I have guests over and they will drink them. Sushi is about $7 an order (it's a lot) it does go higher for some of the rolls.
It is crowded with boxes, i feel he doesn't have enough storage but it doesn't affect the food quality or atmosphere. They are neatly stacked and out of the way. You'll see them but you won't trip over them, it looks like the brown boxes might hold the Styrofoam containers he serves his sushi in. I love this place, it's wonderful....
