Well, listen up! This joint has some seriously on point potato wedges and chicken tenders – I mean, they're a flavor explosion. And hey, you won't be breakin' the bank, which is a plus. But hold your horses, here's my two cents on where they could dial it up a notch:
First things first, they could really use a some organization. Case in point, this: Sunday afternoon that just passed, the manager seems like a one-person circus of big top confusion. He wasn’t ready nor experienced enough to handle helping the kitchen staff who was severely backed up, because all of sudden, he hits the pause button on taking orders for a solid 15 minutes. I mean, we'd all been in line for 25 minutes already! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm no Houdini, but all I wanted was some wedges and a couple of biscuits.
Now, let's talk strategy. They need a designated section of the counter to the left or to the right of the registers where customers can pick up their food. Having 2 dozen people hangin over my food our pass through a line of people waiting in line with my uncovers food just doesn’t work for me. Pick on the left or right of the register. Listen up!
If the kitchen's in a jam, why not give those monthly and weekly reports a peek? Trust me, they've got some wisdom hidden in there. It's all about figuring out what's flying off the shelves on those chaotic days, and hey, why not compare it to last year's chaos for good measure? That way, you'll have a game plan and won't leave us hangin' in line for ages.
Look, I get it – we're not in the Big Apple, but let's not kid ourselves. The waiting game here is borderline outta control. If this was NYC, they'd be closing shop faster than you can say "Puggie’s Fried Chicken." 😱 yes gone but not forgotten.
So, here's an idea – maybe bring in a efficiency expert. It's time to dance to the rhythm of get it done or get it done well!
Don't get me wrong, the food's on point, but the operation? Let's just say it's in dire need of a makeover. My second visit was a bit of a letdown, and that's me being kind. And oh, just a heads up to the wise ones in the back – relying on the notion that "people will wait for good food" might not fly as well as those wedges.
Stay crispy,...
Read moreI've eaten here at least 3, 4 times since relocating to Richmond for work. The sides dishes leave a lot to be desired, however, the chicken and biscuits were always delicious, so, I decided to go there last week, since I had to run into Whole Foods. I had 2 wings, a breast, string beans, apples and a biscuit. I ate the wings the first night and was saving the breast for the next day. When I woke up the next morning after eating the wings, I had sever abdominal pain. Later I started running to the bathroom, had a fever, etc., I stayed in bed most of the day. I thought perhaps it was my 1% milk, although my milk has NEVER made me feel like this. I simply wasn't thinking it was the chicken. So the next day, today, I had no milk and decided to have the other piece, the chicken breast, for dinner....OMG, I started having several stomach cramps, soon after I ate the chicken, and could not stay out of the bathroom....it is now after midnight, and I have to go to work tomorrow morning and still cannot go to bed because I can't stay out of the bathroom! Now I know it was the chicken; I think it was contaminated. I had and have all the signs of food poisoning; feeling sick (nausea), diarrhea, stomach cramps/abdominal pain, a lack of energy/weakness, loss of appetite, fever, aching muscles. Sunday I was in the bed for over half of the day and thought I might have to call 911....it was that bad, and the following day, today was even worse AFTER eating the chicken breast for dinner. I really don't think I'll be going back after getting severely sick like this. I think I lost 10lbs running to the bathroom! I am so disappointed, and should have gone to the hospital to verify if it was food poisoning and if the rest of it has not gone out with the trash, I may have it tested. I pray no one...
Read moreI'm giving this place 5 stars! I don't just give those out either. As a matter of fact this is the first fast food chain that I rated so high.
I heard about this place for quite some time. I didn't go because it's like every place that natives of Richmond recommend to me is super overrated and I was tired of being disappointed. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN COME HERE THO 😔
I had the classic recipe chicken & was not disappointed what so ever. Some of the thighs was on the soggy side tho. My biggest gripe is the boxes they use to put your food in and how they pack all the chicken in the box with no wax paper or anything. (Well it was like aluminum foil at the bottom of the box).. I'm pretty sure that would've saved the thighs from being soggy. As much as I liked the chicken the true star was that sweet tea. I don't even mess with sweet tea like that. Lee's sweet tea is perfect tho. It doesn't taste overly sweet. I also liked the green beans even tho I was lowkey mad about not knowing it was pork in them. The potato wedges was pretty tasty too. I also enjoyed the fried apples. The biscuits was okay too. The biscuits taste waaay better when warm. But hey what biscuit doesn't.
All in all I was very surprised at how tasty everything was. I will definitely be returning to try the spicy chicken & oven roasted. Definitely eager to try their other sides too. I might even go crazy & try their chicken liver...
