One of the worst Mexican restaurants we have been to. We went for dinner with our friends. To start with it took them 15 minutes before they could get us seated even though there were plenty of open tables, mainly because no one was available to take us to our table. The live music was amazing though, the only saving grace in the entire experience. Once seated, our friends ordered blue Hawaiian Rita, instead they got blue Hawaiian, a completely different drink, which we found out at the time of paying the bill. They were nice enough to sub one of the drinks with an old fashioned. Between the 4 of us they gave us a tiny basket of chips and salsa, we had to ask them for another and we asked them to bring us some habanero salsa for the chips which did not show up at all. Food wise they only have one vegetarian option, veg fajitas but that also is served with ranchero beans with pork, you can have them substitute with black beans though. The other so called veg option, cheese enchilada comes topped with beef gravy and no way to leave it out. Friend ordered beef fajitas, and my husband and I ordered veg fajitas. For some reason the food for the 2-3 tables next to us came out before ours. Beef fajitas had a few pieces of beef sitting on top of some onions and for veg fajitas 2 pieces of broccoli, 2 pieces of cauliflower, limpy zucchini and some onions, with no seasoning or flavor. We had asked for all corn tortillas, friends got corn, my husband and I got flour. And even though we had asked for black beans we got the ranchero beans with the veg fajitas. We had to remind them to get us some black beans instead. They had over charged us for the 2 drinks by $4 each and charged us for the missing habanero salsa. When mentioned, our server pointed to the habanero salsa bowl on our table, which by the way is served with the veg fajitas platter. So we had no extra salsa but they had charged us for it. The manager tried to convince us that they had served the right drinks and charged us accordingly. I understand the language barrier for the servers as many were not fluent in English but we had pointed out the drinks on the menu. It took them 25-30 minutes to fix our bill and bring it back. Overall, not a good...
Read moreI slept on it before changing my review of 5 stars to a 1 star. I have been here a total of 6 times since it opened. The food is actually good, prices are fair, however the service is lacking. One of the days I called in a to go order, I was clear about what I wanted, when I get there she still hadn’t put my order in and I ended up waiting an additional 30 mins for my food. When the woman kept ringing up the order, it took her 3 tries cause she kept adding things I didn’t order before she presented me with a receipt with exactly what I ordered. Yesterday, we get there, they sit us down and 2 other parties came as well and had their drinks and chips before us, after 20 mins I asked a waitress hey do you mind being our waitress, she rolled her eyes and took our order. My wife ordered a stuffed avocado (it came out as cold as the inside of a refrigerator) not the waitress fault we know. We didn’t send it back she just didn’t eat it. I ordered a side of queso that’s on the menu for 2.59, when I ordered it, I pointed to it so the waitress could see it. When my check came out she charged me 8.99 for a full size order of queso, I mentioned it to her and she laughs and says oh I thought you wanted a regular queso, I said I pointed it out to you on the menu. I didn’t ask for it to be removed but wanted to see if she would do the right thing and update the price, nope she didn’t, I didn’t want to make a scene so I paid for it. The expectation now is that you tip a minimum of 20% and if we don’t do it we are the worst human beings in the planet, however good service should come along with that as well. I won’t be coming back here not for a while at least, we will be going back to el Vaquero on Hwy 90 and...

It had been a while — about five months since I last stopped at Los Gallitos in Richmond. Back then, it was good… solid. But nothing could’ve prepared me for what I walked into this time.
We were driving back from Corpus Christi, rolled into Richmond, and figured, “Let’s hit Los Gallitos again.” Best decision of the whole damn trip.
From the moment we stepped in, it felt like Don Vergas himself had bought the place and leveled everything up. And then came Frida. Man… that girl runs the floor like a boss. Her vibe, her energy, the way she makes you feel like you matter — next level 💯. She’s not just serving food — she’s elevating the whole experience.
✨ Cleanliness? Spotless. You can smell it, see it, feel it. Even the bathrooms were sparkling — like, “who the hell keeps a bathroom this clean?” kind of impressive.
🔥 The food? Straight up amazing. You can taste the pride in every bite. This isn’t just cooking — it’s love on a plate.
🍹 But let me say this loud: get the margaritas. Not good… 🚨 dangerous 🚨 Smooth, fresh, perfectly balanced. First sip and you’re already planning round two.
🧑💼 And shoutout to the fine, clean-cut gentleman — I think his name was Carlows— who came over just to ask how things were going. He introduced himself like a pro and made us feel like VIPs. Not just guests, but family. That kind of attention? Rare. And priceless.
Bottom line: Los Gallitos isn’t just better than before — it’s on a whole new level now. This place has heart, hustle, and flavor.
Can’t wait to come back. Y’all are...
