El Vaquero Mexican Diner — Restaurant in Sugar Land

Soooooo update. They had a 5 star review from me but now they get a 1 star. NOPE. been here a couple times food is good ... buttt this is the second time they have taken my money. First time it was a ToGo order for 44$ i gave them a 5$ tip and left and a couple days later i look and they took a 50.00$ tip. No way i would give them 50.00$ for a ToGo order. Called they said they could give me a refund if i had my receipt, i was glad i kept the receipt. He apologized and gave me my 50$ back. Now on 1/17/2021 Me and my family picked up another ToGo order because it was in the neighborhood they have good food and i was thinking the first time was an accident. So we spent 55$ and i gave them a 3$ tip they took it upon themselves to give them a 30.00$ tip. Now i dont have the receipt for this time and i better get my 30$ back when i go there tomorrow. They may have good food but watch your bank account as they may scam you out of money.. Learned my lesson some may say we were wrong for going back again but i shouldnt have to worry about getting ToGo food and being charged almost...

First time visit - someone brought me here for dinner. I was not expecting much when we walked in because it is so small and just not that appealing in ambience for dinner (for me). It is a basic looking small restaurant with booths lining the walls and small 4 tops in the center. Small bar and looks to be a relatively small kitchen. The lady who greeted us was very kind and engaging. Service was outstanding - I did not get our server's name which is a shame because I would love to note him here but he was very attentive and helpful in answering my questions. We had beef enchiladas and the Laredo plate (which is a chicken suiza enchilada, taco al carbon, rice and a cup of tortilla soup. Everything looked as expected (looked like mass produced food) tasted decent except the tortilla soup - it did not taste as one would expect it to taste and I cannot truly describe the taste. HIGHLY OVERRATED! I placed a order over the phone and was told my food would be ready in 10 mins. When I got there and my food was already sitting at the front counter. The hostess was very nice, which was probably the best part of my experience here. The nachos I purchased were very cold! The cheese was hard, the beans were hard, as was the chicken. The tortilla chips were stale and soggy. We also had fajitas, they had very good flavor but unfortunately were cold like everything else. The tortillas were probably old because after attempting to warm them, they were still hard. Our food has to have been made at least 30 mins prior to us picking it up, no way I get there in 10 minutes and my food feels like it’s out of an icebox. $60 down the drain.
