Food, service and ambience is amazing. Classic pub/tavern feel. Extensive menu. Plenty of options including a vegetarian section, lighter side section and all your classic pub food. Just note that there are probably 30 parking spots and they will fill fast when it’s busy. We did come at 6 on a Friday and found probably the last spot. FOOD - We shared ten Buffalo wings which were extra spicy! Then my husband had the Balboa sandwich with the best crispy thin sweet potato fries, while I had the mini meatball stroganoff (had at least ten meatballs!) with garlic bread and a Caesar salad side. The picture does not do it justice. The portion was HUGE. All was DELICIOUS. Didn’t need to add any salt or pepper to my stroganoff. Can’t wait to have it again, and for such a great price! SERVICE - Johnny was our server. He was so friendly, with a smile on his face at all times. He was very attentive and had great suggestions for beer and food. You can tell he loves his job! We look forward to seeing him again!

I was very skeptical of this place when I was reading other reviews. It's not often that a place lived up to reviews that praise every little thing. However, I was pleasantly surprised and I am very happy that I was wrong. First off, everything we ate was excellent. The portions are very good, the quality of the meat was impressive, and the service was quite prompt. The burgers are some of the best in the area, if not all of Connecticut. The prices for food are definitely higher than the average pub. However, you are getting much better food than you would at the average pub so I feel like the tradeoff is fair. There is sometimes a decent wait here as well as this is a popular pub. I would suggest avoiding dinner on weekends if you don't want to wait for seating. Lastly, there is a good mix of beers if you are just looking to have a pint with friends. I really do recommend this place.

Honestly the best burger I’ve ever had. I always get the Grove Street Burger with their sweet potato fries! I changed the big onion ring to crispy onions instead, so so good! Everything about this burger!!! Literally to die for. Great prices as well. Wish I could go every week LOL , oh and the pickle on the side (which I ate before taking the picture) is also amazing.

I am here to amend my review of The Hideaway restaurant in Ridgefield Ct. After contacting them about my poor meal they offered me a gc for the price of the meal. However I never received the gc. After letting them know I hadn't received it they sent out another gc. I was sure it would never come but low and behold in today's mail my gc came postmarked 25 days ago!! You kept your word and now I keep mine. I appreciate the double effort to right the cost of the meal. We will be back next month for Sunday brunch before the show at Act Theater. Thank you for going the xtra mile!! If I could have less than 1 star I would have. A month ago my husband and I had lunch at this restaurant before a show. The wings that I ordered were so salty no matter how I tried they were inedible. My waiter never came around to check on our food only to show up with the bill. No other waiters were in our area to ask for assistance and I didn't want to go chasing someone down. I contacted the restaurant by their website. A week later I received an apology about the "heavy handed salting" on the wings and was offered a gift certificate for the price of the wings.. I complied by sending both my name and address since I don't live in Ridgefield but have gone to the Hideaway before shows. 2 weeks pass and no gc. So I messaged again last week and was told the gc "was in the mail". Old liner and 10 days later no gc. I'm sorry the Hideaway not only cares about the quality of the food nor their word about their customers satisfaction. I had thanked them in the past but I retract that now since they didn't follow thru. Their are many other Ridgefield restaurants that I will visit...

Absolutely wonderful. I will definitely be back.

There isn't much parking, and the place is always very busy so I suggest walking there if you can. I came here on a Tuesday night around 6PM and had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table for 3. All of the staff we talked to was very nice, attentive and professional; not on their phones or sitting around waiting for someone else to do their job.

You don't get starter bread but instead your waitstaff will give you some house-made bar chips. These were absolutely delicious. Every one was very crispy but not burnt. Very nice flavor. We couldn't finish them and wanted to take the rest to go, but instead our waiter gave us a full container of them at the end of our meal.

Everything on the menu looked really good to me. My mother said the corned beef Reuben was delicious, and the avocado BLT is her favorite, but I ended up with the MacWaffle, which was their mac and cheese pressed by a waffle iron and topped with bacon and maple ranch aeoli. All of our food came relatively quickly. The bacon was great at first; very thick and cooked well. I was very impressed with my first bite. I did however eat a piece of bacon that was all fat and had to spit it out, which made me lose my appetite for the rest of the bacon. The mac and cheese was very good; they put the bread crumbs on top so it's crispy. The plate was definitely enough for a dinner for one, or two small eaters. I took home my leftovers and heated them up the next day with no problem. I don't think I would get this dish again but I definitely want to try...

Went for the first time on a Monday night. Waitress was not very friendly or welcoming. She did not want to answer any questions about the menu. 6 people attended including a chef from another restaurant and myself. Everyone was disappointed and would not go back for a second try. Mashed potatoes were not made that day and were definitely leftover from the weekend and reheated (microwaved?). They were the first thing I tasted and I knew I was in trouble. The meat in the Balboa was probably yesterdays meat also but I cannot say that as surely as I can that the potatoes were leftover. The bread for the sandwich was undercooked and unimpressive. The dipping sauce for the sandwich was made from a powdered mix and not freshly made. Every aspect of the sandwich was disappointing. Nachos were okay. Burger was okay. Nothing impressive or authentic. They took the easy way out every way possible. Maybe because it was a Monday? This is a place to watch a game and have a beer for college aged men who do not care about quality or health. If I am going to eat unhealthy, I would like it to at least be good and fresh. Not a place for me. Paul you get zero stars for the...
