4/16 EDIT: The manager reached out and everything is now good to go. Added the extra star for the great experience with the manager. Will be going again real soon.
Didn't have the greatest experience here for our first time. We showed up around 630ish and it was pretty busy in the dining room. That's cool. We ask for a table and the poor guy on crutches said he'd take care of getting one ready. No one seemed to help him and by the time the table was a ready a family was waiting behind us. We gave them our table instead and decided to sit at the bar since they had kids. No big deal.
Sat at the bar and watched the bartender talk with what looked like her friends for about 10 mins. My wife and I were talking to ourselves in regards to how it was ridiculous that she never stopped over to provide a menu or beer list or even ask us if we wanted anything. The dude next to us overheard us and said that the same thing happened to him earlier that evening and that it took his friend having to speak up to get her to notice.
I'm not one to beckon a server or bartender to assist me unless I'm in a crowded club with loud music or something to that effect, but after 10 mins of not being helped (and seeing that the family that took our original table already had menus, drinks, etc..) I motioned to get her attention. She stated she didn't see us (even though the bar was not full and we were directly at the end of and had made eye contact several times) and provided us with menus.
Took 5 more minutes before she even looked at us again to take our drink orders during which the menus were closed and stacked as the universal sign for "we are ready to eat and enjoy alcohol!"
During this time she was just talking to the people at the other end of the bar and washing one cup over and over. Finally the other bartender (with the best beard ever) noticed our annoyances with not being served and took our food orders. He rocked.
Got our food but still had to "beckon" the other bartender multiple times just to get another beer (at this point there were 4 people sitting at the bar). Whatever, the food is good and the beer is tasty. Not a big deal.
Check comes and we ask her to split it, hand her two separate debit cards (different colors and everything) and in checking my bank statement today I was charged for both meals. I probably should have taken a closer look at the receipts she gave us to sign (that's my bad).
Not a big deal since now my wife gets to buy our next meal but after taking around 2 hours to just get some chicken wings and a grilled cheese and have 2 beers it soured my taste on the place. It's a bummer because there aren't many choices in RF with the quality of Junior's but the lack of any sort of urgency by the bartender was off putting since I then felt that I was being rude by having to motion anytime I needed something. Usually after a bite or two of food or even seeing an empty glass, servers will ask how things are or if we need anything. That did not happen.
I never review places, and realize that everybody can have an off day, but getting charged for the full meal and not the half that was agreed upon puts a wrench in the mix and I felt the need to say something.
Pros: great beer list, tasty food, bartender with amazing beard who is great. Cons: being ignored, getting double charged, lack of urgency by the other bartender during a slow time at the bar
I'll go back at some point, but...
Read moreThis deserves no stars or negative stars. This was some of the worst service we've ever had. We loved the patio setting and the live music and our food tasted decent. However, our waitress seemed annoyed to have to wait on us. She was openly UNfriendly and in fact seemed hostile at times during some of our interactions. We were in at an off-peak time on a Sunday afternoon and there were a few tables outside and one table inside. There were several waitstaff around (at least 3 that I saw waiting on other tables) so I couldn't even consider them being short-staffed. We ordered an appetizer and had no napkins, plates or utensils in which to use while eating the appetizer. Our main courses arrived and we had to ask for napkins, utensils, ketchup, mustard, and drink refills (they had not been refilled AT ALL between getting them and getting our main food). My husband's order was also not correct--he ordered chips and got fries. When he said something about it, there was no offer to do anything about the error and the waitress, again, seemed annoyed with having to wait on us and made no effort AT ALL to correct the error. After having to ask for the napkins, etc, when our food came, I watched her walk over to her co-workers and she then just instead proceeded to stand there and talk. It took all I could to not go over right away to AGAIN ask for the items we were missing but I thought at some point she would remember that we needed everything (napkins, utensils, condiments, refills). After her not moving to get any of it, I finally did have to approach her and as soon as she saw me, she turned around AWAY FROM ME. Another waitstaff asked me if she could help and I said what I was waiting for. This waitress and I will publicly put it out here--Ahnna C.--was just awful. She seemed to grudgingly bring our items over. Then she went back and took a very long time to fill a carafe of diet coke and finally refilled our drinks. I found a manager inside and mentioned that I had some feedback regarding our service. He listened and said that often when it's not busy, service can sometimes lack. Um, really? That is completely the wrong answer. I just couldn't believe that was his answer to terrible service. He then asked if we had paid--I wasn't sure. He said he could maybe comp some of our bill. He followed me out to the patio. My husband was finishing up paying. I turned around to see if the manager was there, to see if he truly CARED at all about this situation and was willing to adjust our bill, even though we had already paid, and he was nowhere to be found. Just unbelievable all around. We have reason to be in River Falls quite a bit and we will never ever return. We will pass this message along to anyone we can, as well. ...
Read moreWent to juniors this past Friday night. Have been many times. Overall the Friday fish fry has always been pretty good flavor wise, although it can be very slow on the reorders and the service is always ok but never great. That being said this last Friday night was extremely disappointing. We walked in with three, were sat at a table meant for two, it took 5-10 minutes after we went back up to the host stand to even be recognized or get a chair for our third member. It then took a total of 15 minutes for our server to bring drinks/take our order. Initial food took 30 minutes to come out, which is not terrible but longer than usual. Rarely while we ate were we checked on, asked how things were going, anything. After waiting 10 minutes after being completely finished we asked for a reorder. The reorder took 25 minutes and included two tiny pieces of fish. We then proceeded to be handed a bill without being asked if there was anything else we needed or if we were interested in another reorder. As someone who has been a server, I understand it can be busy and chaotic, and in those conditions I tend to be extremely apologetic, but multiple times throughout our visit our server was visibly not busy and also had a tendency to look right at our table but continue to ignore us. This was a restaurant we visited often and unfortunately may...
