The Smoked Taco — Restaurant in Riverdale

Alright, y'all, let’s talk tacos.

We moved to Utah from Texas 7 years ago, and one thing we quickly realized? Most people here don’t know what good food is. So when I saw this new taco spot being built in Riverdale, I had my eye on it. The vibe instantly reminded me of Torchy’s Tacos in Plano, Texas (because let’s be real, the Austin one has seen better days 🫣). The fire, the Tex-Mex, the smoke, it had all the makings of something special.

So, of course, when it finally opened, I dragged my husband over, and we ordered the three tacos that gave us serious Torchy’s vibes. And y’all… this place is legit. Like, on the same level as Torchy’s, maybe even better.

Then Friday rolled around, and we had to try their burnt ends taco. Because after seven years in Texas, we know what good brisket is. And while I’ve sampled plenty of brisket joints here in Utah (shout out to Low and Slow BBQ, sad when they moved it if it neighborhood, and BamBam’s in Provo), I was curious to see if this taco could deliver.

And let me tell you it did not disappoint. This taco is basically everything I love about Texas BBQ wrapped up in one perfect, smoky, flavorful bite. Or as my daughter would say, the Skibidy Rizzler of all tacos. 😜

The other tacos I’ve tried so far:

🔥 The Hot Chick: This one danced in my mouth with all the best Southern comfort flavors. The biscuit was an unexpected but genius twist that pulled everything together.

🌶️ The Bird (probably my favorite): A full-blown flavor explosion. Sweet, spicy, tangy, salty absolute perfection. That cilantro lime ranch? It gave me serious flashbacks to that beloved Mexican spot everyone raves about.

🥩 The Gringo: Y’all, this brisket actually tasted like Texas. Smoked to perfection juicy, tender, and full of that deep, smoky flavor we crave. The candied jalapeños and crispy onions added the perfect crunch, and that sauce? I need a pint of it.

I can’t wait to try more, especially their Smokin’ Pastor I’m hoping it lives up to the street tacos I miss from Cali.

I got a Taco about the love I have for you. I got a tacofrom a friend and I was hooked. HOOKED. I know dream of this place!! I am back today... Cause I'm here to stay until the menu is slayed. Or probably forever; I came in to push the fold and try a new smoked sensation. I love you! I literally save my money for this place! #1 ugh Came in for another epic experience and was met with epic service! Nas was so sweet and attentive. Great chatting. My favorite thing was her attentiveness to her crew. She stopped to make sure everyone was ok not just everything was ok. But they themselves. Such a beautiful personality! ❤️ That's what makes a team! Great environment Great experience. Everyone has such a great vibe!! Everyone did good at doing there part! Seeing where and what needs to get done and get R done TOGETHER! They Busted it out! Way to go guys!! Matt recommended The Philly. Love it's lil dilla tortilla. Yummy. But yes great flavor combo!! So glad I got to experience it! My #1 is the California as of right now although not a guac fan....I'm so stuck on the California .. that burrito!! Yessss... Your flavor pallet combos are that of a Taco gods creation!!! I havent made it thru the menu yet!🙄Goals!! Loved my experience here the other night and had to share Good on ya team!! So imma not sure if that's how it tastes or is made whenever you go. But WOW!! We're killing it over here at smoked taco corn on...

So here's an update I had only given this place two stars before but now I have changed it to 5 stars the owner reached out to me and made things right to give me a second chance

So we went back and this time it was much better we got the Nachos and a couple tacos the Memphis and they had a limited time BLT all the tacos we have tried which is around 8 different ones they are good but not are most favorite things also the churro fries are good as well but only there fresh not after u take them home I recommend this place we will definitely be back to try it again but we will just stick with the Nachos as they were delicious and what truly got us hooked and I would like to try the salad as well anyway from now those are the few things we will only go back for.

I want to thank the owner for giving us a second chance also the kid that took the order named Phil was really nice and respectful even came to the table to ask if I needed anything was way nice the gentleman in the back named Matthew gave me a few things that I needed without any fuss and was nice too the food this time was really delicious and well presented so this was my prior review but I deleted a lot of it because I feel like it's not fair to them anymore So me and my girl tried this place a little while back as a date night it wasn't terrible then but we were not impressed either I may give them another chance but I would like the owner to know that having an option of flour tortillas as well would be nice...
