For years this has been my preferred pawn shop, with fair prices and decent service. Today I brought in a set of recently bought wrenches purchased for over $200, and an $80 - $100 Craftsman swiveling ratchet set. The fact that I was only given $15 for a loan, isn't the reason for this review. The gentleman that helped me was beyond rude. He stated he would give me $15, without opening the bag the wrenches were in or inquiring how many or what brand they were. The way they were situated in the bag, no logo was visible, and there was no way to know how many wrenches there were unless the bag was unrolled. I requested $20, which he refused. He was very condescending without a hint of customer service. Obviously disappointed because I was in need of money, I inquired if they would take a pair of Michael Kors shoes if I brought them in. He rudely replied "If they're clean." His tone implying that someone like myself was not capable of owning anything clean. I accepted the $15 loan, returning about a half an hour later with the Michael Kors sandals and choosing another employee's line to stand In. The employee was very polite and helpful, and while she was researching the shoes online, he came over and pointed out a very small spot on one of the heels of the shoes. After telling her they were damaged, he turned to me and said "I would give you maybe $5 but actually no, you would be better off on eBay or something like that since you came in and tried to sell us damaged goods." Now I understand pawn shops choose what to take and what not to take, I accept that, and if not for the way I was treated, I would not feel the need to point out that the name brand shoes and bags that they have on the shelves are obviously used, some moderately so, and not all that clean, so for him to point something out that minuscule, was maddening. On my way out I asked him if he had a problem with me and he didn't respond, I said he'd been rude to me and asked why, still he said nothing. After I pay off my loan I will not be returning to EZPawn. I don't know if he was the owner, manager, or an associate, but if you work in a pawn shop, I would think avoiding treating customers as if they are below you would be your goal, because in all likelihood they are having a bad...
Read moreI am honestly disgusted with this company.. I got no future businessed from the roy location because the lead there stole 40$ of my boyfriends money, that fell out of his pocket, and I told her that everyone in the room knew what customer service was, except her apparently. And my boyfriend just yesterday got banned from ezpawn as well because he wanted to ask a couple questions on a pawn they did for him.... The manager axel kept telling us we needed to calm down, but we were not raising our voice or saying anything rude, just simply asking what the difference was in a chip and a 1 point diamond in their system. And we didn't cause a scene of any sort, left calm and polite, still without saying anything rude, or threatening, we just wanted a question answered. Thats it. And axel threatened my boyfriend with no future businessing his account as well because I was in there with him, when i was told that I could still go in there and shop and everything else just no pawns or sells. But because for whatever reason he thought we were getting out of line for asking a question... I didn't realize we had to be so cautious of them being that sensitive. I am honestly disgusted with myself for being a customer to their stores for so long. All because of a question, hes no longer allowed... Because of a question. I thought they encouraged that especially with your own items that are being pawned. But apparently dont do that cause they get upset. When there wasnt a scene or any anger at all, the only person that seemed to be getting upset at all was axel.. When he should have been more than happy to answer whatever questions we had. But since his employee made it difficult to trust her with anything that she was putting in the system because of the several mistakes she had made prior to the conversation with the manager, so we wanted to clarify. Pathetic. Pathetic managers, pathetic people because...
Read moreAs a frequent flyer of deal hunting at pawns, this was my favorite location for quite a while.
Occasional great deals, staff is about as good as it gets for what I imagine they're paid, and the chain in general is my favorite at the moment, so I've still left some meat on the bone with a 3 out of 5. However, and perhaps I'm just spoiled by the BS smiles in large retail, I expect my continued patronage anywhere to be returned in kind; to at least some degree. Unfortunately, at this location, I've rarely found that to be the case.
I've spent a fair bit of coin both franchise wide and at this location specifically. Unfortunately, last time after buying a few things and realizing I'd forgotten to grab another item I wanted, I called and asked them to hold it for me to pick up mid next day. They told me this wasn't going to happen, which is fine and completely their call.
As a result of this though, I'm stuck with a tool who's battery was bundled with the other item, and is therefore quite worthless to me.
I now focus my weekly bargain hunt to the Southern stores in the EZ chain, and find myself looking for a new preferred chain...
