Awful experience. The waiter who has been there for at least 2 years do3snt even known his menu. Took 20 minutes for him to even come to our table. Everything we asked which were simple questions like do you have a kids menu was answered with I dont know and no follow up to find out. He knew nothing, was very slow and th4y qerent vusy when we got their at all. Then it got a little busy and the table who came way after us was getting their good. We waited 45 minutes to get food that mind you is mostly precooked. The corn seems poured straight out of a big can with alot water and. Ot drained so spilled water al into my food from corn. Then they are a little cafe known for having a slice of pie not great pie ok pie. But we went there to eat and have a piece of pie. It 3as listed on the boards they had coconut and chocolate for the day. We asked if they had any other kind of pie today or just those two. I dont know AGAIN was the answer we get. So we order 3 chocolate pie slices. Comes back says oh sorry we had a big function last night and ran out of pie last night and have NONE for today at all. This was early in yh4 day so why put you have pie on two boards when you have none. Poor service, less than furs quality fo food but we wanted a quick half way home cooked meal. Been many times it not great but this visit was awful and our last. With as many options that have opened up in Roanoke you would think they would want to retain their customers. Apparently not. Dont waste your time or money. Fast food is better blah than this place and...
Read moreAfter me and my family have been going here for years and the service and food being great, to this past six months we have gone a total of three times and it being terrible it was time I share it with everyone. The atmosphere is not so friendly they have forgotten one or two of my family members plates after we all have waited awhile for our food to already come out, so we all have to wait to eat while our food gets cold and all the, I guess new owners say is I'm sorry, especially the guy with the little brown hat on, that sits you then walks around like he's lost most the time! But this past Thursday me and my family decided after a school function to go give it one last try and yes at first it was weird to think there serving at dinner time, but we still went. What a mistake!!! We walk in and it's not busy but we are waiting to be seated and finally the mustache lady yells y'all seat yourselves! So we do with three boys the youngest two and there hungry and thirsty! And we sit and and she keeps saying I'll be right with you, and in the mean time my wife walks to go get our own menus so we are ready when she comes. After waiting 20 min we decide to just leave. This place used to be great and why cause of the cooks. New owners need to go back to the...
Read moreA hometown jewel serving delicious, from-scratch, diner and American classics! I visited with four others when I had guests in town and I was completely won over. Decor is much elevated compared to the common conception of a diner. This is not all formica, uncomfortable seating, and white walls. Lots of warm browns and Christmas and winter decor. Corrugated tin as wainscoting! Very charming, and the chairs have padding! But they've managed to keep prices reasonable ($10-15 per person, approx.). The food was excellent: French toast, eggs over-easy, hashbrowns, super crisp bacon (at my request), and delicious coffee. I will post more pictures of the food the next time I go, but I was too busy eating. The service was EXCELLENT, thanks to our great server, Suzanne, and a friendly visit was paid to our table by the kind and informative owner, Sue. These two lovely ladies were so gracious, and made us feel right at home even though we got there about 20 minutes before they closed at 2:00 CST. There were specials posted for home cooking classics like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, turkey and dressing, chicken fried steak, etc., so I will definitely give some non-breakfast dishes a try next time. I feel very confident recommending this...
