I chose this place bc it had over 4.5 stars. Let me just warn everyone what I wish I had known: 1) burgers are at least 11$+tax and are a tad bigger than a slider, likely just because of the bun size and toppings. I was initially glad to see they used waygu beef but don't think you'll get at least a 1/4lb, normal size patty. Pretty sure they try and make as many patties as possible from a pound. I think it wouldve fit just fine on a white castle size bun. With waygu beef, I dont understand why they make them more like junkfood with that price. Topped with stuff like chips and macaroni and peanut butter like a child would make. Not even quality junk, cause Ive had some bomb macnchs..They tasted ok, nothing to rave about..I wouldve ordered a regular chs burger but they dont even have lettuce and tomato. Pretty cheapskate place to me. I know how much a pound of waygu beef costs at the grocery store. They are making bank off people not letting them know theyre buying a slider. 2) 3 small burgers, 1 side of cheese fries, 1 soda, 2 beers was 60$. You don't get anything with the small burger besides a limp pickle. May as well go to 5 Guys and save a ton or go get a couple steaks at a steakhouse. The value does not match what you get at all. We ate at Texas Roadhouse a few nights ago and fed 5 adults and 2 kids, for 100$, not including tip. That consisted of 3 steaks, (one large steak was shared), 2 chicken dishes, a kids slider plate (2 small burgers), side salads, bread, baked potatoes, tea, sodas, water, etc for 100$, not including tip. And we got left overs meals from that too. 3) A side of French fries is 3.50 and to make them cheese fries is 6.50. The cheese isn't even cheese, it's like Velveeta mixed with "special sauce". 4) Our server was rather rude. My friend had questions and requests when ordering and it seemed to be aggravating..when we were dividing items when it came to billing, I was listening to what my friend was saying and thinking about making sure it was gonna be even and she wasn't taking too much upon herself. Next thing I know the server says "Uh, you wanna gimme that?" Looking at my card in my hand. So rude. Could've said, "are you ready to pay ma'am?". 5) They didn't put cheese on our cheese fries we ordered. Forgot to place a burger order to-go for me. Charged me for 3 beers when I got 2. Wouldn't have been so bad if we were actually treated considerate.
Pick somewhere else for a burger and couple brews....
Read moreI absolutely love this place. The food is 98% of the time great, and if its not right they fix it promptly, the rotations of beer and ciders are awesome.
My only complaints are seating and the bathrooms.
I know they make the revenue to afford a bigger space. You frequently have to wait to find a place to eat. This would not be so bad if the table tops were reserved for groups of 3-4 not just one or two people. Singles and doubles can eat at the bar......frequently I've come in and seen the tables occupied by one person and we have to awkwardly wait, and watch this person eat and drink till they are done. Then swoop in like a vulture to claim the seats. I feel like I am rushing someone unintentionally. No one like to have a group of people watch them eat in anticipation that you can have their table when they are done. I know they have spend a lot of time getting the "vibe" just right but i feel they would do so much better in a larger space.
The bathrooms frequently smell like low tide on a hot August afternoon. The smell will waft from the bathroom all the way to the front of the building, God help you if you are stuck sitting near them. I am not sure why they are this way as when you enter them they "appear" to be clean. I say "appear" because they use a red light rather than normal lighting so you kind of have to hope its as "clean" as it "appears" lol. I will also add this smell is more predominant during the warmer months when the AC seems to be blowing. I haven't noticed it as much in the winter.
The two "complaints" wont stop me from going or frequently suggesting this restaurant but they are the reason for the 4 star rating...
Read moreCame to Roanoke and was suggested by friends to try this place for burgers. We were sitting at a brewery down the street, and had ordered a burger for our granddaughter who was hungry. A friend went down to pick it up and bring it back, and was met with a very rude bartender. She told us the story upon returning, and so we thought about not ordering from Jack Brown’s. But, the friends talked us into it anyway. They made an order to go for all of us. However being that we weren’t ready to go back to our hotel yet, we took our Togo order and decided to stay at the bar to enjoy a few drinks as we are outr food. We were met by the same rude bartender that told us that we couldn’t eat their take out at their establishment. Then she walked away. We continued to eat our food, and she came over again. She told us that we couldn’t eat at the bar if we had called in the order for take out. We asked, “You mean we can’t get a few drinks, and eat your food at your establishment?” She said, No, that it was part of a big take out order that didn’t leave a tip. I told her that our friends had ordered it for us, how were we to know. Then she said we were rude, I told her, excuse me, You are being a “Bit—.” We took our food and left. We found a picnic table, and ate our food. To be honest, the burgers were not great. The fried Oreos were very oily. The seeet potato fries were ok. So if you like rude staff and mediocre food. Then take your chance at this place. You’ll be...
