It's a very small mom and pop store, but the food is so good! The owners are originally from New York City.
We ordered the fried red snapper with rice and beans and plantains and also got an order of the honey henney wings and a beef patty. It took a while for our food to come out because everything is made to order, but the owners explained this to us and we were fine with it. We were also able to chat a little and get recommendations before we placed our order.
The fried snapper might look intimidating because it is a fried whole fish and if you have not eaten whole fish before, deboning it might seem scary and weird, but it is worth it! The fish is so soft and tender and the skin is crispy. It is flavorful and crunchy and definitely reminded me of eating my mom's fried red snapper. Do take caution to not choke on any bones if you have not eaten whole fish before. The rice and beans were decent. The plantains are lovely! They're the proper amount of caramelized and sweetness.
We originally wanted to get the jerk wings, but I saw that the Honey Henny wings are only available on Fridays and Saturdays and we were just in luck because we went on a Saturday. They're hot when served, so be careful. They are sweet and at first, I did not taste the Hennesey, but after taking a second bite, I could taste the slight alcohol flavor. It's definitely not strong enough to get you tipsy or drunk, but the flavor combination is delightful! Truly addicting. We didn't order a drink, but the owners were nice enough to offer us water cups and they weren't small cups either!
The beef patty came out last and the owner warned us that it was really hot because it's freshly made. The most delicious beef patty that we've ever had! I thought it was slightly too spicy for me, but I also cannot handle my spice. My fiance LOVED it. He didn't think it was spicy at all.
Highly recommend checking out Caribbica Soul. I would definitely come back to try other items and the...
Read moreThis will be the last time I eat at this place I ordered food for $116 and this is one of my dinners they had the nerve to put my potatoe salad in foil balled up and the shredded meat you see is supposed to be oxtails which it was burned and tasted burned when I called the restaurant to voice my complaint & the manger stated that I have to pay .50 for them to put the potatoes salad in a small foam container cause the prices went up. That is absurd like what restaurant u have to pay for plates smh. When I try to explain to her that putting food in aluminum foil like that can be a safety hazard because u can easily consume a piece of the foil with the fork without knowing she was getting rude stating that other customers asked them to put the food in a separate and they pay a separate fee for the plate. The oxtails was disgusting and tasted burnt u can see the burnt pieces in the food. This was the worst way for me to spend my money on my...
Read more$60 for “Brunch”. Purchased tickets in advance and chose my plate. Arrived and went downstairs to the basement. One 10oz drink in a cheap plastic cup .. no refills. Waited an hour while they brought food downstairs in aluminum pans. Had to track down a “waitress” to ask how and when we would be served. Took another 10 mins for someone to take our order - although our meals were preselected when tickets were purchased. I got chicken and waffles - a leg, thigh and half a cold waffle - that the “waitress” applied syrup to before serving it to me. My husband got “jerk” shrimp and grits aka 7 shrimp and a spoonful of box grits with no seasoning. All served on flimsy paper plates.
Flyer said R&B/Caribbean music. It was giving all “trap house” vibes.
Maybe the restaurant upstairs has better quality food and service, but I won’t be going back to find out.
This review written while in line to get real food with great serve at...
