Once you get past it being kind of dark in there, which does kind of help to set the mood, and only 1 table in each of the street facing windows (which smaller parties are encouraged to NOT eat at), you're in for a real treat. The servers usually greet you with a smile and try to help make your experience an enjoyable one. It helps, too, that their prices are fairly reasonable. They have a nice selection of food items to choose from, different even and bigger than some of the other Japanese restaurants that I've been to before. Their bento boxes are what I will now recommend for people to go with, especially when eating there for the first time. The boxes give a tasty and ample sized sample of their various foods-from the appetizer, to the choice of soup or salad ($1,50 extra and you can have both), a smaller version of their chosen entrée, perhaps a 6 piece version of a sushi roll, some rice, and a chosen fresh fruit. I got one during my most recent visit for the first time, my approximately 4th or 5th time in being there, and it was DIVINE. The presentation of it was lovely. Gyoza turned out to be truly appetizing; I'd never had it before. Something different was happening with the miso soup and I really liked it; I just couldn't decide what the difference was. The ginger salad definitely did not disappoint me either-simple yet so good. Fried rice, always a nice accompaniment. It just kept going and going, the deliciousness. Shrimp tempura rolls are my ultimate favorite and that was the choice for the special that day, which helped to make my decision easier. The dipping sauce had some sliced scallions and these little crunchy things in there and my taste buds were delighted. Next, came the teriyaki chicken and broccoli. There was an additional sauce on there, unlike any I had partaken of before. I knew that I was eating chicken and broccoli but it made me think of the tastes of turkey and gravy at Thanksgiving time. My eyes were practically rolling into the back of my head; it was that flavorful. Then, to complete the meal and leave on such a good note, there was the fresh pineapple. Let me say that again-fresh pineapple. It was perfectly chilled and to my liking as well. (Prior to the box arriving, I had ordered some of their Dang Bang Shrim0 p pp. Honestly, I didn't know how much they'd have to offer with the bento box, so I ordered that as well. I needn't have but I'm still glad that I did, as I'd never had that before either. They brought out some sriracha sauce to add to it, seeing as to how I like things a bit spicy. That made for a palatable combination. I just thought I'd put that out there for you.) Anybody leaving there hungry, it's their own fault, that's for sure. Maybe next time, I'll finally get to try out one of their desserts, especially now that ice cream season is upon us. Whatever you...
Read moreI’ll start by saying that I’m not a complainer, this is my first review. I had ordered the apricot salmon, however there was definitely a language barrier. Totally understandable, I’ve got tones of respect for someone who can come here, work, and learn a second language. The apricot salmon was asked for and pointed out 3 times before being written down. When the food came, I was give a massive meal mostly consisting of sushi, which I cannot eat due to a shellfish allergy in almost all the rolls. I was quick to correct the server, who was young, understanding, and very kind. Absolutely no complaints over him for a mistake that was largely due to the language barrier. He took it back and professionally apologized. The problem comes when who I assume to be the kitchen manager comes out. Off the bat he insisted that I had ordered the incorrect meal, which is not possible as I cannot eat 80% of the dish. He continued to cut me off and reiterate that the confusion was somehow my fault, and kept reinforcing his stance that I had ordered it. Eventually he came to the conclusion that he could make me something else, however said it would be from the sushi bar. I once again explained that it would not be possible for me. He then stated he would be able to get something from the kitchen, however it would take a very long time as he was busy. Busy is one thing, however ANY time something like this happened at any previous high school job, the incorrect order would be prioritized. As my friends only has sushi, I did not want to have to make them wait around for another 45 minutes as we had other plans, so I said not to worry about it, even though I was fully prepared to order teriyaki chicken, to meet the kitchen manager half way in ordering something that would be quick, and something I could eat. After returning from a quick smoke break, my salmon was at the table, by this point I had completely lost my appetite, and didn’t not expect to eat a meal. While eating the meal, I had noticed the salmon was very overcooked. The server was once again apologetic and understanding. To sum it all up, the kitchen really dropped the ball, kitchen manager was very rude, food was not good, and still had to pay the full price. Hoping to give this place another shot, but not...
Read moreShort: great fresh and quality food served quickly yet elegantly. Wasabi made their food savory adding their own taste to all of their dishes. Overall very impressed and would recommend if one likes authentic Japanese cusine. To read more continue reading.... Long: after eating at a lot of Japanese sushi houses and hibachi restaurants one will start to develop a taste for what they like and dislike about foods offered. I personally am very picky with my sushi and meals at Japanese restaurants which made my lunch all the better at Wasabi's. When eating at Wasabi's I could tell everything they used was fresh. The massive amounts of fish on display on the sushi bar looked fresh and the perfect color. First I ordered the miso soup which to me was better than most, however if you aren't a miso soup fanatic like me, you will probably think the same. Next was the salad; the salad was what spiked my interest. The dressing usually put on the salad (the orange dressing at hibachi restaurants) tasted different and in my opinion better. The flavor was a lot less mild and bitter which mad the flavor melt in your mouth more while keeping the salad moist. I ordered the Bento box and Wasabi special which hit it home. From the broccoli to the grapes I thoroughly enjoyed the aspect of all the food. One food item that wasn't to my liking though, was the dumplings- to me they tasted like hot dogs which is not bad but not what I want to eat as a sushi restaurant. The sushi I did not eat as much as I let it melt in my mouth for a savory taste you cannot find anywhere else. The nigiri was a perfect thick cut of eel, salmon, and tuna all were a great temperature and consistency with a taste so delicious. If you like sushi and you are in Ronoake, this is the place to eat hands down. I...
