I’ve really enjoyed my visits here. Second visit last evening was just as we remembered it and perhaps even better. The first time we stopped at Ditkas it was a whim as we passed by with zero research. We were all blown away by the experience and the quality and flavor of the steaks that were cooked just the way we each liked. Returning has been on the list for a long time but just never seemed to fit in. Las evening we were in the mood for a great steak and after checking all the reviews and articles the decision was made to give Ditka’s another try. I honestly can’t imagine that the more we’ll know “steak houses” would have made us any more pleased. We arrived around 8 and one of the nice things is you can sit on the dining side with table clothes and all of the bar side which is quite nice but just a touch more relaxed. As we didn’t get so dressed up we choose to sit on the bar side. Place setting, wine glasses and all were still present. We were given water upon sitting down. I really like this somewhat dying tradition. The menu is a good size and well rounded but not a massive one with too many things to really be good at making them all. I ordered a Manhattan and later a Tom Collins both of which were really well done. The only other drink at the table was a lager of some sort that got a definite thumbs up. Salads arrived in chilled plates with a chilled fork just after the warm rolls. The mike salad and the wedge were a toss up really, both were fresh, crisp and all the increments were well proportioned and presented beautifully. Both salads were really really good. A bit later after the table was cleared and new flatware was placed, again seems to be a dying tradition. We appreciated not having to ask for the table to be cleared. Steak and sides arrived and they looked amazing. The chat looked perfect and the smells wafting off them made my mouth water. New York strip for me and aged prime rib for my son. My steak was absolutely perfect medium. I’m not eve. Sure how they got it cooked that even. His prime rib was thick and cut with a fork. I had a bit of that as well and it’s probably the best I’ve ever had. My strip was full of flavor just simply one of the best I’ve had. We wrapped up with a mascarpone cheese cake that was so decadent and delicious it was sad to see it gone. In the end Ditka’s is a home run for us with two visits in and more to come for sure.
I literally forgot to take pictures because the experience was so nice it...
Read moreA FOODIE’S SURPRISING FIND OF A LOVELY AMERICAN NOVEAU RESTAURANT😎.
Being named after a sportsman, I thought it would be the usual rowdy American pub and grub, but it’s truly surprising how upscale it is.
It’s a large dining establishment, with separate section for the sports bar enthusiast.
The menu is short and sweet, typical of places whose chef and/or restaurateur has a clear vision of what restaurant character they would be known for👏👏👏. This is apparently managed by a local restauranteur independent from corporate owner(s).
Notably as well, there’s an impressive wine list with a wide range of prices🥂🍷. For a wine connoisseur, this extensive wine list actually has some gems at very low prices!!!
There’s a short cocktail 🍸and beer 🍻lists for those those more inclined to spirits and hops.
Despite the short menu, one can have a cohesive dining theme: like seafood or carnivore or combination thereof.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A LOVELY FULL COURSE SEAFOOD DINNER.
🍸 Start with a cocktail : the Bourbon Manhattan is particularly pleasant, it has a strong kick.
🍷 Choose a good light wine::: there’s a great Cave de Lugny, a hard to find Burgundy Chardonnay, smoothest non-oaked of its kind… it’s low priced 👏👏👏.. oh it is estate-bottled … THIS IS A GEM !!!
😎😎😎 The Calamari starter superb: freshly cleaned light battered lightly fried squid rings, spiced seasoned served over a pleasant pickled jalapeños and yellow chilies…. WOW !!!
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 The Seafood Cob Salad::: sublime medley of fresh greens, lump crab (YES it’s real crab) and prawns with light lemon dressing and blue cheese crumbles…. IT’S DIVINE!!!
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 The Seafood Linguine::: freshly made pasta (in-house)… savor the fresh semolina taste of the absorbed flavors of mixed seafood (scallops, shrimps, lump crab) and herbs and pepper flakes in a white reduction sauce with sprinkled pecorino… SURPRISINGLY LIGHT for a pasta dish👏👏👏👏👏
😎😎😎Finish with a lovely Flourless Chocolate Cake… all the flavor of real cocoa 👍👍👍 surprisingly served with (what tastes like pistachio) ice cream… WOW!!!
It’s a lovely euro-dining pace in a lovely American Noveau setting.
Service is outstanding👏👏👏.
VERY HIGHLY...
Read moreI was in to eat yesterday afternoon just for some casual dining. I sat down The atmosphere of the place was pretty peaceful. As soon as I got my server that's when things started to go down hill. He seemed very unhappy and not very pleasant to be around. He had a slight attitude that didn't sit well with my stomach as I was being served. So I decided to start with the Mike salad. When I got the Mike salad it looks like someone just threw it on the plate. The apples were oxidize and there was a lot of balsamic dressing on it. Also on top of that I had a small piece of blue cheese mixed in with my Goat cheese. I'm assuming that the wasn't supposed to be there. So for my second course I had a burger. I asked med-rare and I got it medium. Also they did not take the time to rest the meat. My burger was very sloppy made almost like McDonald's. Then the bun was covered in grease. So for dessert I wasn't expecting anything good and that's what I got. I chocolate cake was so dry I needed a glass of milk to wash it down. Also I understand that the little dab of whip cream is for decoration but that would have came in handy for the overly dry piece of cake. But I did ask for more whipped cream because of it tasting like butter and not whip cream. 1- it was over whipped. 2- it wasn't sweet at all! It tastes like there wasn't any sugar involved in the making of the whip cream. My ending judgment for the food is 3 out of 10. The Service to be honest was a mixed review although I didn't enjoy is offsetting attitude He did his job and right but because of the offsetting attitude 5 out of 10 in my opinion. Will I come back? More or less no... there isn't anything special about the place and the food...
