I really don't like leaving reviews like this but...Meh...Won't stop here again on purpose.
Service wasn't good. Coffee got cold and empty several times, and I was the only one drinking coffee at my table. The server only checked on us one single time during our meal. And it's not like they were busy. Lunch rush was over, they still had plenty of servers on the floor, and they weren't busy...but they WERE too busy chatting to attend their tables properly. Even trying to flag any server down, netted zero results. I'm only going to wave like an idiot for so long.
I wanted ranch for my fries, but had forgotten to ask in advance...by the time she came back, I had eaten 3 fries, and they were already cold, I no longer wanted ranch.
Not a single empty dish or anything else was removed from our table while we were eating. Leo's does the thing where they only bring human sized napkins, wrapped around the silverware bundles. And if you need any more, they have a dispenser of doll/barbie towel sized napkins, the thickness of single ply, septic safe toilet tissue with which you can aggravate yourself. We had my toddler with us, so we had a literal mountain of them at the edge of the table, which was just left to ascend the heights. We eventually piled Mt. Shame onto our empty plates, that were never removed.
None of the food was well put together or very tasty at all. My mom's Reuben was kinda sad. My Gyro was super not impressive. It was assembled poorly (lamb sliced too thick and stacked flat on bottom, only a few tomatoes and onions sprinkled on top), was overly messy (tzatziki sauce just oozed out the top/sides and didn't coat the lamb at all or even help to hold in the tomatoes or onions). Fell apart from the first bite and didn't get any better. Lamb flavor was decent.
Kids' cheeseburger and fries portion was big. Which was nice, especially considering the almost $10 price tag. It would have been more appropriate to have a smaller, less expensive portion for the children's menu... My 3 year old racked up a nearly $20 bill all by herself, after the meal, juice and mac n cheese. And she ate probably 3 bites of the burger and 4 bites of mac n cheese. Mac and cheese was liquidy and nearly flavorless. I managed to turn the leftovers into a serviceable dish at home by adding a ton of cheese, a little milk and some roasted pulled pork...
Even the fries were sad. Some had burnt flecks of fryer debris on them. At first we thought it was pepper...nope, not pepper, just bad fryer maintenance. And all of them were slightly undercooked and tasted like old fryer oil.
For the amount of money we spent on this, next time I'll just deal with a hangry toddler while I buy groceries and cook my own food...yes, it was THAT not worth it. High point and kudos to the random young blonde server (not our server) who actually engaged my daughter for a few moments while I paid the bill.
At no point were we offered crayons or anything for the tiny one...I would NOT describe our experience there as,...
Read moreWe’ve cycled through this diner a few times, mainly due to its location near Kroger, but this visit was our last. It’s never been my favorite—the rattling front door is jarring unless you sit far away, and the food and service are subpar. There always seems to be a busboy sweeping or clearing right underfoot when you walk in or sit down, which makes the place feel more chaotic than busy.
I had a plan to avoid the usual problems: we sat far from the door, and I ordered the fish and chips well done, hoping to sidestep the undercooked fish I’ve had in the past. Mine came out cooked through, thankfully—but my dinner companion’s was undercooked and "slimy".
What really ruined the experience was the large TV directly in front of me showing a bloody cage fight. I asked the manager (who turned out to be another server) to change it, and he laughed and looked genuinely surprised that anyone wouldn’t want to watch two bloodied men in a chokehold while eating. Honestly, it’s a sad commentary on our "culture" that a family diner sees this kind of thing as appropriate viewing.
The server was okay, if not particularly warm. After we finished, I dutifully went to pay at the counter and waited while the cashier played on her phone, ignoring me. The same "manager" passed by and offered no help. Frankly, I resent paying for table service and then having to line up at a cashier to pay—especially when no one seems interested in taking my money. I left cash payment including a fair tip on the table and walked out.
With so many other diners around that offer better food, better service, and a more welcoming atmosphere, there’s no...
Read moreI gave this Leo’s one star because google doesn’t have a zero star option. I had been here last year twice and both times service and food were bad. But I thought things might have improved and I was only getting breakfast so thought I would give it another chance. First the place has wait staff that did their best to ignore customers and were almost rude. One waitress yelled over her shoulder that customers could only sit in one area, that’s fine to have only certain areas open but don’t yell over your shoulder and walk away. I noticed the wait staff all looked grim as if they were in misery. When another waitress finally came I ordered eggs over medium and sausage, Which should be uncomplicated to cook. The eggs had a weird leathery texture and the sausage had a texture that seemed as if both had been microwaved. Then there were the flies buzzing around peoples food. They have had Fly paper and electronic bug zappers for decades, but maybe the owners never heard of them. When I went to wash my hands the water only trickled out of the faucet. Finally when I went to the counter to pay the cook used his gloved hand that he handles food with to handle the money and make change. Not sure how these Leo’s franchises work, must be independent owners. I only say this because the Leo’s in lake Orion about ten miles away has attentive happy servers and great food. My advice is to avoid this place unless you like bad food and...
