I have actually gone back and forth about whether I want to write this review, however it’s been a couple days and I still feel very uncomfortable with the whole situation. My friend and I have been frequent visitors to this coffee establishment and have always enjoyed the cozy ambiance and delicious coffee. However, my recent experience left me feeling incredibly uncomfortable and disrespected. During my visit, the owner approached my friend and I in a confrontational and passive-aggressive manner while we were enjoying our drinks. Despite making sure my “shoe” was not touching the furniture due to recent knee surgery, the owner aggressively vacuumed near us and made loud comments about my seating position in front of the entire establishment. Mind you, yes I did have my leg up, however I absolutely ensured my shoe was not even touching the furniture. Furthermore, I more often than not see people sitting crisscross applesauce, whether they are doing homework or it’s a kid sitting with their shoes all over the furniture.
What struck me as particularly odd was the owner's behavior considering his apparent concern for the furniture. If he was truly worried about the condition of his chairs, then why was he banging them with the vacuum and creating unnecessary noise and disruption? It seemed contradictory and only added to the uncomfortable atmosphere.
His approach was not only unprofessional but also completely unnecessary. If there were concerns about the furniture, a polite request to adjust my seating position would have sufficed. Instead, he chose to publicly shame and embarrass us, creating a tense and unwelcoming atmosphere.
As a loyal customer, I was taken aback by the lack of courtesy and respect shown during this interaction. It is disappointing to see such behavior from the owner of an establishment that prides itself on customer service and hospitality. I hope that future interactions with customers are handled with more tact and consideration. While I have enjoyed my visits in the past, this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and the friend that I was with. We actually were in complete shock by the behavior and we even sat in silence for what probably felt much longer than a few minutes because how taken aback we were. I think the owner saw how uncomfortable we felt, which he proceeded to come back with two Voss waters and said “god bless.” I couldn’t tell if the gesture was basically telling us to kindly leave or just that he felt bad by the whole situation. Either way, it was just a very unexpected and...

Read moreI was so excited when Café 3:16 came across my FYP on TikTok. I’ve been looking for more local businesses that openly express their faith, and this one really stood out. Today I finally carved out some time to enjoy this experience with my little family of three. Maybe my excitement built up some unreal expectations, unfortunately, our visit didn’t quite live up to what I had hoped for.
We weren’t greeted at all. No “hello,” “welcome,” or even a friendly smile while we looked over the menu. That was a bit disappointing, especially from a place that carries such a beautiful name and mission. Maybe it was just a case of Monday blues hitting hard this week!
Something that’s out of the café’s control, but worth mentioning, was the overall atmosphere from other customers. The crowd that day felt just as unfriendly. No smiles, no “good mornings” or casual greetings which took away from the warm, community feel I was hoping for.
On the positive side, the coffee menu was fantastic! They offer a wide variety, and the lattes we got were flavorful and smooth. The pastry case was full of tempting options, and the bagel cream cheese bites were a big hit with my family.
I truly love what this café stands for and hope my experience was just an off day. I’d love to return and hopefully see that same kindness and joy reflected both in the staff and the atmosphere that their...
