Women are not safe here.
I love the music and the grumpy bartenders. The prices are better than most of downtown. I used to be a regular. But they won't remove a predator who works there.
Weekend Security (Quentin) uses a fake name so they cant check his criminal record. He touches our bodies (behinds and other parts) while walking through the crowd and if we complain to staff we get a shrug. He comes up from behind and presses himself against us to cause fear. Right at the bar.
I told ownership how "Quinn" watched me get accosted by a shouting drunk who'd been kicked out already. He looked straight at me and walked away AS it was happening. It happened in the parking lot right outside the back door, and the cameras didnt record it. It doesn't count, and my word doesn't matter.
He intimidates any woman who tries to report him. There is no security for us.
Female regulars carry tasers, knives, and pepper spray - or we only come with a group. I used to go alone for live music and always meet with friendly faces. No more.
I was told in September 2025 that they would consider getting a different security person. Hasn't happened. My friends dont want to go there anymore. It sucks to watch my favorite bar get rougher every year because they don't care about women's safety. We like...

Read moreI have been to Mary's more than a few times, and have always enjoyed myself. It is a little small but not tiny and would be considered by many to be a "dive" bar. That being said, it has some of the best beer and liquor prices in Rockford, and has a lot of great live music of all kinds. When I went their last there was a bluegrass band that was out of Chicago that was really good! The next night I was told they were having a young hard rock band, and saw that Bunny Carlos was playing there on a Monday! They also have live open mike nights on every Tues. and Thurs. which I have seen a couple times and was actually impressed. All in all I think it is a diamond in the ruff if you like a cheap good time. I am gonna give it 7 out of 10 because I like...
