Cafe Grazie — Restaurant in Rockland

Walked in, was not greeted. It wasn't busy, I was the only one at the counter. I looked at the selections, picked two items - said hello to the counter person, again no response just a look. Ordered, was never told what the total was. Another customer came up to the counter while I was being waited on and asked if the lunch menu was available yet. She walked away during my transaction to ask - returned to answer his question and then again just stared at me. I noticed that the total was displayed on the screen, tapped my card and was asked that all important question about leaving a tip. PERHAPS if I had been acknowledged, been greeted or treated like my purchase was at least as important as the gentleman's question I would have left a tip - but NO tip. Will not be returning. What a gem! Life is so much better with Cafe Grazie open on the midcoast. They make the most sublime breakfast sandwich on a soft Foccacia, the best coffee around for sure (but also love an afternoon spritz or affogato!). This team puts so much heart into the cafe and everything they make. It’s warm, welcoming and an easy but lovely hang. I’ve loved to work on the outdoor patio in nice weather, or sit solo on the counter, or meet some friends at a communal table. Everyone that comes in the door just seems happy to be there.

Cafe Grazie has just opened a few blocks south of Rockland’s waterfront park. My advice is to get there now, before the crowds arrive! I went for breakfast, and ordered the egg sandwich on toasted focaccia with a cappuccino. The sandwich was special; fresh local eggs cooked to order on house made sesame focaccia, topped with melted cheese, house made mayo and fresh greens. 10/10! The cappuccino was also excellent. The coffee here is sourced from Tandem Roasters in Portland, and it is great. The service was quick and friendly. Can’t wait for...
