The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill - Rocklin, CA — Restaurant in Rocklin

We visited this place for a birthday dinner after reading reviews and good looking food pictures, even though the ambience wasn’t great. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing.

We ordered Falafel (It was okay), the 4 dips with pita, a chicken souvlaki plate (didn't take the pic), and a chicken gyro wrap. The hummus was overly salty, and when I mentioned it to the server, she simply said “that’s how the cooks make it.” Really? The eggplant dip had a burnt taste, while the other two dips were just average.

The souvlaki plate and gyro wrap didn’t have much of a Greek flavor at all, and the chicken didn’t taste freshly cooked. Even the rice was off — it had a strange taste and looked more like Mexican rice than what you’d expect at a Mediterranean restaurant. To top it off, all our food came out within 5 minutes, which made it feel rushed and not freshly prepared.

Overall, this is not what you expect from a Mediterranean place. If you’re looking for authentic flavors, this is definitely not the spot. A big no from us. Not visiting again. There are so many small places offers best...

They were very nice and accommodating. We got gyros with regular meat. The gyro was great. Lots of fresh tasty meat. Sorry people I was going to photo it since the presentation was awesome looking, but I was hungry and could not wait to bite in. Now I'm going to check out their rice pudding. Good job The Great Greek that hit the spot. Addition: we got the free rice pudding, can't tell you how it was since they were stacked in the bag. The top one fell sideways while driving home. The containers do not hold the very juicy rice pudding so it completely poured out all over in the bag and popped open to make it worse. Friendly staff and great food options BUT this was our first visit and was very disappointed to find a black hair in my food. I don’t have black hair. I hadn’t eaten very much and took it up to the owner who was at the register and all she said was sorry and didn’t offer to replace my meal or comp it or do anything to make it right. She went to the back and even a staff member was appalled at the lack of customer service. But said staff member almost acted like disregard for customer service is typical behavior of the owners.
