This place has the best BBQ we've had in Texas since beginning our stay in January. We each ordered the 2 meat plate ($16.95), and got the best smoked turkey and brisket! Each was tender and juicy with just the right amount of smoke. The 2 sides were incredible. The potato salad was cold, fresh and creamy, just the way we like it. Hubby got the carrot salad (crispy and delicious) and I opted for the pinto beans which were much better than I had expected, with a hint of smoke and well seasoned. Served with 2 slices of wheat or white bread ( I personally would have liked a crusty dinner roll better) but dinner was phenomenal. They even offered free Pepsi refills. We had enough meat for left over sandwiches the next day! The service was efficient and friendly, from the moment we were welcomed into the restaurant. We were ok with it being counter service as we could actually see the meats and many side dishes to choose from before ordering. Overall a great dining experience. The food was superior. We will be returning for more!

I didn't get any pictures because it was too good to stop and dig my phone out of my purse. I had the poor boy special. A hoagie with three meats, all tender, moist and flavorful, with a side of Mac and cheese and broccoli salad. The broccoli salad fell a bit flat for me, I'm used to it being a bit sweeter, but the Mac and cheese made up for it. It had a bit of toastyness and wasn't dry or stodgy. It had a nice creamy texture with good flavor. My husband had the turkey sandwich, pinto beans and Mac and cheese. The turkey was also moist and flavorful. The beans were great also, with tons of flavor. Beans aren't my thing, but I wish I had got them instead of the broccoli. We finished it off with a cherry cobbler and spent about $35 for it all including two drinks. I definitely would recommend.

We have been in Texas for the last two weeks and stopped in Rockport for a couple nights. We haven't had any bbq yet on this trip so we decided to find some. We stumbled across Macs BBQ Pit in Rockport. What a find, I had a Poor Boy sandwich and my wife has the Beef Ribs. The food was excellent, great portions for what we paid. The side dishes were great as well. the staff was friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere. Highly recomend and will go there again if we are in the area again.

I've lived in this south Texas all my life..And I know what great BBQ is cause of MRS CHARLIE'S BBQ in ingleside as a kid....she was the best, GOD REST HER BEAUTIFUL SOUL crazy to look back and not know how good something was cause until its gone... and cause I was a kid....BUUUT no one let's me down in BBQ more than MACS BBQ IN ROCKPORT TEXAS....not only did the ADDITUDE of the skinny girl at the window sucked...id never have trash people at the window to represent my establishment like her..FOH go wash some dishes or toilet's๐Ÿ’ฏ...but she probably family......but.the pound and a half of BRISKET SUUUUCKED TOO...I always give the benefit to them maybe they just had a off day...but they never let me down with the BAD quality of BBQ...like they dont cook or SMOKE it LONG ENOUGH....and it tasted like oven not smoked.....and NO LOVE OR LOW AND SLOW.....and I MENTIONED this to the CHUNKY ASS BIG MEXICAN owner that he should leave it smoking another 2-3 hrs one day and he looked at me like I was crazy๐Ÿ˜น๐Ÿ˜น๐Ÿ˜น....I was just being HONEST.sucks that's the only choice during the week.....NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO BACK IN MY LIFE....THAT PLACE HAS BURNED DOWN IN MY HEAD LIKE THE ORIGINAL MACS IN GREGORY-PORTLAND BURNED DOWN....but the only DIFFERENCE is the one in Portland was the very DELICIOUS ๐Ÿ˜ฟ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜ฟ๐Ÿ’€..... We've been eating at macs locations since we were children. This place needs some help some flavor some cheese in the macaroni. Their sides are incredibly small. The mashed potatoes were cold when we told her this she checked the batch with her ungloved finger. The mac and cheese were so bland and noodles were grossly over cooked to the point of mush. We were really shorted on our so called scoop of cole slaw when I told her this a normal person would have given us a bit more cuz we had like a half scoop. She answered if you want more I have to charge you for another portion. When I took the carrot salad back cuz it tasted old they ate some right in front of me and said it tasted fine. They did let me trade it for potato salad which that wasn't bad and we had BBQ sandwiches and brisket that wasn't bad either. We ate what we could as we were starving. We don't recommend this place. I would have rather grabbed some stripes food over this place. I recommend y'all give some better customer service, use basic equipment like salt pepper and cheese. (Thank you Robert Irvine ). Start giving one and a half scoops maybe even two. And good customer service combined with food that doesn't taste like you tried as least hard as possible to make it and your business...

Actually, the rating should be 2 1/2 stars. The sides are good and there is a fairly plentiful number to choose from, the sausage is just okay, think Bill Millers and chicken is tender and moist. But the brisket, oh that brisket. When they pull it out, all shiny and glistening and you see the juices running as they slice it, the color looks a little light but not a deal breaker. Then when you sit down and take a bite, the dream shatters. No flavor in the beef. No spices, no salt, no smoke. Tender enough but just bland. How is this possible? I will admit that I do like their three meat po' boy (sliced brisket, chopped brisket and sliced sausage). If in concept more than execution. I prefer my brisket with an almost black crust. This can affect those with a more mild digestive system. The age range of Rockport skews more towards the senior crowd. This might be why they seem to dial back on the spice and smoke so as not to offend them and why my dad likes. Me, not so much.

Edit: 7-6-2023. After five years, I gave them another chance. The brisket is still as bland as grandma's boiled pot roast. Tender...
