Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center — Attraction in Rockport

Call me old fashion but when I go to a chamber of commerce visitor center I still expect they should provide assistance and not ridicule me. We are visiting the area from out of state and wanted some advice as to suggestions for good wade fishing areas, afterall this is a fishing town and there are are large number of tourists visiting and alot of water. The response from the man working was ..."see all that water out there you can fish anywhere." Then he made some snide remark about I cant believe people come in and ask about where to fish. My response was "thats not very helpful". We inquired further as to where we could park as most of the property around the water is private. He said "just park anywhere if the property owners don't like it they will tell you to move." We are law abiding citzens and would not consider parking on obviously private property. He did point out salt lake and suggested we could fish that entire lake. We did check it out, that body of water has NO public access it is surrounded by a housing development, you would literally have to cut thur someones yard to access the water. I wonder why the locals would tolerate the chamber telling people to park anywhere. I also wonder why people would bother to come back to this area to fish if the Chamber can't or wont provide something simple as public fishing piers, public parking areas near the water. Obviously we are not the first to ask for this basic information. Don't waste your time with this man, he was a total JERK!!! The scarey part is I Think, I'm not positive, he was in charge...

I was talked to horribly. By Shannon and the apparently the new director Shelly! I was mistreated merely for question the what's been on their website for almost a year. We lost our original spot before anyone was even signed. Up. The we finally were being charged the priceof.entry more than doubled whe its clearly stated on their website. I know iof 2 other food trucks in the event that didn't pay the amount I'm being charged. I'll post pictures.iwas told I didn't know how to count or read. And was hung up on. That if I couldn't afford it then I should be trying to attend the festival.ill be posting...

Just stopped in for a few minutes to participate in their calendar fundraiser. I got a calendar and took a look around I love the history that they show in this establishment. In my short time there I learned a lot about the Rockport Fulton area history. History that you probably wouldn't know unless you stopped in there and took a tour so if you're in the area I recommend you make a quick stop in you got to check this place out it's almost worth a YouTube video on its own which I will probably stop it and do on a day that I have more time.
