There was not enough parking in the parking lot for all the rooms. We had to park in the street out front of the inn a couple of the nights. The room was very small. There was no dresser or closet but there was a rod with hangers in the open. We stayed four nights so it would have been nice to take our clothes out of the suitcases, but there was not much room for that. There was a mini fridge and microwave. The room smelled funny when we got there but I left the door open and it smelled fine after getting fresh air in there. I think it was the smell of cleaner. They were stingy with the towels. I wanted three body towels so we would each have one and one for the floor by the shower, I also wanted one hand towel and three wash cloths (one for each and one for my face in the morning). I think that was reasonable for four nights. They seemed unwilling to give us this number of towels. If they gave us an extra one; they wanted a used one in exchange. We were also told we could wash our towels ourselves in the pay-for washing machine. They just didn't get that I wanted a certain number of towels. One afternoon they also just walked into our room without knocking. I hollered stopped and they stepped out and knocked. Apparently, rain had come in through the ac vent and the owner and the housekeeper wanted to come in to check and clean it up. Other than these negative things, the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was walking distance from the Art Show and the strip of gift shops. It is also walking distance to the beach, but we drove because we carried chairs and a small ice chest. Because of the price, location and cleanliness, I would still consider...
Read moreI'll begin with the positive. In general, the room was acceptably clean. If you are looking for a place in a great location and only a place to sleep, this may be okay. As another said, there is a # on the office door, you have to call to check-in, and in my case have the key card reset each day. The room in general was okay, one remote looked like it had old dried food caked on it. Also I had to reset everything on the TV to get it to work. When I had someone come down to re-key my card I showed them the remote, also told them about the issue with the "box" needing re-booted, also the light fixture in the bathroom had 3 fixtures and only one bulb. The other two were open sockets, seems like a law suit waiting to happen if someone stuck a finger in one of the two if the switch was on. Oh, and the answer to all the little issues was "it is not their fault", in face they insulated it was my fault in some way. Hello, that's not the way you run a place. The one time the owner showed up to re-key the card she was quite rude. So judge for yourself. Myself, I'd never stay there again. And BTW, same owners at Bayview Inn, I figured that out and went down to see if they man-ed that office, same sign "call (number). Also the number listed in any website is a local number that does not work. The number on the door is a cell # with an area code from the DFW area. Never again for me, but maybe others have...
Read moreUpdate: Sadly after staying here for years the property along with the other managed nearby have gotten worse. This time we had to leave after one night. The first room smelled like cigarettes and was dirty. The second room which had bugs crawling along the window by the head of the bed and dead ones on the floor. That bathroom was also dirty. The third room was ok enough to stay one night but there was a hail storm coming and we had no other choice and were tired and desperate. The fridge ended up being broken and I had to clean the room myself. The toilet was dirty include the seat 🤢. Dead bugs all over the place. We were charged for a room with two beds and and only ended up with one bed. Now we know why it's empty every time we come to town. Sadly it's not what it used to be.We definitely won't be back to Harbor Inn any time soon. The manager was very nice but never offered us a refund for leaving just we will see what we can do.
Old review Simple, clean and right across from the harbor, park and Rockport beach. Fixtures were a little rusty but that happens at places closer to the water. A/C was nice and cold. I will say there isn't anyone in the office and you have to call to get a room key. The staff meet you there quickly. There was some things going on in the parking lot . You could tell locals knew the place wasn't monitored on site. We still...
