My previous review (~1yr ago): Our stay in Room 107 was fantastic! This motel is perfectly situated, just a short distance from Rockport Beach, which was a huge plus for us. We were pleasantly surprised to find a cooking surface stove and even a sink in the room, making it easy to prepare some of our own meals. Highly recommend! My new review: Our stay in Room 210 had its ups and downs. On the positive side, the beds were absolutely awesome and comfortable, and the desk provided was cool. We also want to highlight that the owners were incredibly nice and accommodating. They even let us borrow a floating mat and a volleyball to use in the pool, which was a really thoughtful gesture! However, for a room advertised for 6-8 guests, it was surprising to find no sink or cooking stove, unlike other units we've seen. Even the fridge was noticeably smaller than in the previous room, which was a real inconvenience for a larger group. The room's configuration was also a bit odd: two beds upon entry, then another bed further in, but this section lacked a door for separation, making privacy an issue. We also felt that only one TV was inadequate for the number of people the room accommodates. The absence of a dining table, which we expected given the room's capacity, was also a drawback. While the comfort of the beds and the kindness of the owners were appreciated, the room really needs more appliances and a better layout to truly cater...
Read moreThis place doesnât have an elevator â but who needs one when the stairs double as a cardio workout and a pilgrimage toward enlightenment?
Checked in at the front desk where the staff greeted me with the same energy youâd expect from someone being held hostage by customer service â which, to be fair, made me feel right at home.
The room? Immaculately present. The kind of dĂ©cor that screams, âWe stopped trying in 1987 and weâre proud of it.â The bed was a little firm, but so is life.
I found a mystery stain on the curtain that sparked the imagination. Coffee? Available somewhere between 6:00am and âwhen the stars align.â And while there was no continental breakfast, I did enjoy a vending machine burrito that might still be fighting for dominance in my digestive system.
Parking was abundant â likely because I was the only one brave enough to stay here without checking Yelp first. Five stars for the courage it instilled in me. I emerged from this motel a changed person. A stronger person. Possibly immune to tetanus now.
At exactly 11:00 a.m. â and I do mean exactly â I was gently startled awake by a knock so aggressive it couldâve been a SWAT raid. It was the front desk guy, checking to see if I was planning to vacate or commit to the luxury of a $10...
Read moreI've stayed in some cheap motels in Rockport over the years, Surf Court Motel (closed now), Rod N Reel, I should have stayed at Rod N Reel..... While visiting this year, I chose The Villiage Inn.... I didn't see any bugs the first night, the second night there was a little roach inside the mini fridge, one on the dresser/tv stand. The the next morning, another in the coffee cup :/ The shower was soo small, the shower head was below eye level (I'm 5'8). One of the days the cleaning crew actually left the trash from the bathroom on the table with the rest of our stuff. The TV was super snowy, not that we go on vacation to watch TV but one of our friends hurt her back and was stuck in bed most of one day, so if it's not bad enough to be bed ridden while everyone else is having fun you have a crappy TV. I had friends in two other rooms, we were supposed to be in rooms next to each other, that didn't happen either, I think it's because there was a big communication barrier between us and the owner. One of the rooms was supposed to have a balcony and full kitchen and it didn't. It was really one thing after another...
