Akagi Sushi & Hibachi — Restaurant in Rockville

I just took my lady on a date to this place and we loved it!!! They have such a vast selection of sushi that is so delicious and can satisfy all of your Sushi cravings!! You must order the dynamite muscles! They are so delicious and amazing. They topped them with some kind of tasty sauce and other delectables, I feel like I could’ve put away at least 3 or 4 orders of those! For sushi we ordered the Manhattan roll and then the crazy crunchy roll from the specialty rolls and we were extremely satisfied! They also have an amazing hibachi. We got the steak and shrimp with the steak cooked medium. That steak melted in my mouth like butter, and the shrimp was very delicate and tasty. The hibachi is a great portion size, I wish I had three stomachs so I could eat more food there! They also have a great selection of non-alcoholic refreshments for the summer, We ordered the avocado smoothie and Thai iced tea and let me tell you that avocado smoothie is a must try item! I was told that they will have alcohol available soon, they are working on getting all the right licenses. I can’t wait to be able to drink a nice Sapporo with my sushi soon!! All of their food overall was very fresh and high-quality ingredients. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Parking is very easy as well. There is a parking garage right across the street with free two hour parking, It is also conveniently located within walking distance from Twinbrook Metro. We will definitely be return customers. I had a wonderful experience at Akagi Sushi and Hibachi in Rockville! The place has been newly renovated and now feels super inviting and family-friendly. The ambiance is warm and clean, with thoughtful touches that make the space feel both cozy and modern.

Now the food… absolutely phenomenal. A solid 10/10 for authentic flavors — every bite melts in your mouth. You can truly taste the freshness and care put into every dish. Whether you’re a sushi lover or new to Japanese/Vietnamese cuisine, I highly recommend it to everyone.

To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable, especially compared to other spots in the Rockville area. Great value for high-quality food.

And I can’t forget to mention the Labubu doll on display — it’s like the cherry on top of the cake! A fun and quirky touch that made the visit even more memorable.

Today was the 1st day of their soft opening, and I’m already planning my next visit the next time I’m in Rockville! I ordered the scallop and steak hibachi — the protein was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The Dynamite Mussels are a must-try from the appetizers menu — flavorful and perfectly broiled. I also had the “Sexy Jalapeño”, which was stuffed and had just the right kick without being overwhelmingly spicy. Finally, the special sushi rolls and nigiri were super fresh since their fish was delivered same day.
