I am writing this because of the "bad" experience I had yesterday (August 8, 2017) at this location.
My co-worker and I arrived at this location a little before 1:00 pm. I proceeded to place my order for a chicken salad sandwich. Easy enough, chicken salad is prepared, the salad is served on a croissant roll, easy peasy, right? Wrong! I received a number so my sandwich would be delivered to me after I sat down.
My co-worker stood in line to order the salad trio. We were behind 3 other guests who were not the fastest at making up their minds and placing their orders. I know this isn't your fault, but it will pertinent later on in this email. We moved through the line (which consisted of only two la Madeleine employees and one was the cashier (not helping patrons)), and paid for our orders. My order was $11.09, which is pricey for a chicken salad sandwich and a glass of tea.
Anyway, we sat down and waited for my sandwich. My co-worker stated it was ridiculous that I still hadn't received it after waiting over 10 minutes (this does not include the time we waited in line behind the three other guests who did not order promptly). I'm guessing my total wait time for the sandwich was over 20 minutes. Now mind you, we were on our lunch HOUR and honestly didn't have time to wait this long for a sandwich.
My co-worker proceeded to get up, and go to the line to ask for my sandwich. Well, you guessed it, my sandwich hadn't even been prepared.....it appeared that my order was lost. If she hadn't gotten up carting my number I may never have received my sandwich.
Okay, you think things are good now, right. Wrong! She brought my sandwich which was the most pathetic chicken salad sandwich I've ever seen. Normally, La Madeleine has plenty of salad on the sandwiches. Not this time. There was approximately 1/4" to 1/2" of salad on my croissant roll. It was so bad that at some point I was eating lettuce and croissant roll only.
Wait, there's more. The potato chips I ordered, it appeared that some one reach into the bag of chips and placed 10 or so chips on my plate.
After I finished eating, which didn't take much time at all, I was still hungry.
To sum up I paid $11.09 for a chicken salad sandwich where I ate more lettuce and croissant roll than I did chicken salad, 10 salt and pepper potato chips, and a glass of tea.
I am very disappointed in the product and the service I received at this location.
I would have spoken to the manager, but like I said above, we were on our lunch hour and based on the service we received, I wasn't sure how long it would take for a manager to be available (if one was...
Read moreI recently ordered takeout from La Madeleine in Rockwall, and unfortunately, it didn’t go as smoothly as I’d hoped. Normally, I’m not one to leave reviews like this, but I wanted to share my experience.
Before placing my order, I called La Madeleine to clarify how to-go orders work and whether I should order through their website or use a third-party service like DoorDash. The person I spoke with assured me that I could place the order directly on La Madeleine's website and that they handle deliveries through partnerships with third parties like DoorDash and UberEats. So, I placed my order at 1:40 PM, scheduling delivery for between 6:15 PM and 6:30 PM.
Around 5 PM, I called La Madeleine to confirm that everything was on track. This time, I spoke to the manager, who informed me that the Rockwall location doesn’t set up deliveries for to-go orders and that I should have arranged the pickup through a third-party service myself. When I mentioned the texts and emails I had received confirming my order and it would be delivered, the manager reiterated that they don’t handle deliveries or coordinate with third parties for them.
To add to the frustration, my wife and I live in Denton, which is about an hour's drive away, and this order was for my grandma, who had just come home after four days in the hospital and couldn’t easily go out to get something to eat. The manager offered to cancel the order or remake the food in case it got cold by the time I arrived since my online order would not be delivered. I then made arrangements to drive to Rockwall to get the food or try to make a DoorDash order for delivery.
I called my wife to see if we could quickly place the order through DoorDash instead, avoiding the long drive. While she was setting that up, I called La Madeleine back to cancel the online original order, only to be told that Uber Eats had just picked the order up. Luckily, my wife hadn’t placed the DoorDash order yet.
In the end, my grandma got her meal, which she loved, and I did receive a confirmation call from Uber Eats about the delivery. But overall, the experience was pretty stressful and extremely...
Read moreI must say I only post reviews like this when they are really deserved. This is not our first negative experience at this location. They don't have a good system for ordering among other issues. They have a serving line counter, but if you go there you are redirected to go back to a stand by the bakery for someone to take your order via tablet. Then person taking the order didn't know what sides were available with entrees. She had to ask someone else. Then her tablet wouldn't work. So a guy comes from the kitchen and asks what we wanted and he wrote our order on his hand. In the meantime others passed us and went to counter to order. The whole process is awkward. Why have a serving line if you are required to go backward to a non-working tablet to order from a non-trained employee?
Then the American blend coffee was lukewarm, at best. I alerted the guy at the register and he said he would tell someone. I go back to the table and pick up my wife's cold coffee too and return a few mins later. The guy tells me they haven't replaced the coffee yet. So I stand there. Finally the same guy takes the old coffee to the back and returns with fresh/hot.
By this time our food is already at the table. My wife ordered a side of "fresh" fruit and then I could tell something was wrong with her meal. She said watermelon in the cup was so old it was mushy. You should have seen the bacon. It was cold and looked like it had been sitting all day.
After our meal a guy comes and starts removing our dishes from the table. He didn't say a word or ask if we were done? Not a single word or acknowledgement that we were even there. So - bad customer service, sketchy food and we still have to pay 20+ dollars for the experience.
There's something wrong at this location. We've never had issues at other locations. This was not the first time we've experienced issues here. We chalked the times up to being a bad day. Now it seems every day is a bad...
