This hidden gem has quickly taken a spot in my heart as one of my most favorite Indian restaurants in all of the Chicagoland area. Coming from an Indian background myself, I am a tough critic when it comes to my native cuisine, and Dastarkhan has blown my tastebuds to a nirvana only achieved from eating food back in my motherland. To begin with, I was greeted with a warm welcome by the restaurant owner behind the register who broke down his whole menu for me and gave his recommendations from every section of the menu with great eloquence. I was in the mood to eat that night, so I ordered their famous fried shrimp to start off with along with a piece of chicken tikka for appetizers. The shrimp was seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection and left my mouth watering for more. The chicken tikka followed suit and was extremely tender and their special house blend seasoning reminded me of one of my favorite grills back home in Hyderabad and is some of the best chicken tikka I have had in America. Next I ordered their mutton fry, chicken noodles, and chicken 65. I paired these dishes with Chapati and naan and I cannot commend the chef enough with how well each bread was made and toasted to utter excellence. It really shows a lot about a restaurant in the amount of care and effort they put in a simple dish such as their breads to make them fresh on order. Back to the main dishes, I was completely speechless! The aroma of each dish was enough for me to get my moneys worth, but the taste and vibrance of each dish was out of this world. The mutton fry and chicken 65 were both some of the best I have had in years, both dish perfectly spiced and cooked to a tenderness only a master chef would have the ability to do. I could have ever imagined myself enjoying food this much in America, but this chef truly has magic in his hands. The owner then brought me his house special Daal to pair with my meal and it tasted as if it was homemade, just perfect, which is one of the greatest feats amongst Indian restaurants, to have the food taste and feel like it was made by a loving family member. After eating to my hearts delight, the noodles followed and my only complaint is that I wish I had more space in my stomach! The chicken noodles were immaculate and hugely portioned and could easily be a meal of their own, but being fried noodle fanatic I had to try them and I am so glad I did. Packed with flavor and cooked to the restaurant standard of perfection, these noodles are easily the best fried noodles I’ve had in my life. Each meal was heartwarmingly delicious and my experience here was utterly divine, from the friendliness of the staff and to the utmost quality of the food. Dastarkhwan has my vote to soon take over Devon and be a staple of Indian cuisine for years to come as I believe it has set the new standard for authentic Indian cuisine. All restaurants should take note as there is a new sheriff in town! I cannot wait to visit again and try their famous biryani and other items! This is a must to try and add to the rotation, you should run not walk to...
Read moreIt was our third try eating at this restaurant within the last one year. The first two weren't worth mentioning so didn't write a review, try to never write bad reviews to avoid hurting a business. Went back because they have better reviews than other Hyderabadi places around - though I can't explain how. Got take out mutton biryani and haleem. 18$ mutton biryani had 2-3 small mutton pieces, less than even 50 gm, and just rice - complete rip-off. This likely wouldn't have happened if we were dining in - more difficult to cheat when customer is sitting right there. Haleem tasted okay, again has very little meat in it and lots of undesirable cuts which can't be eaten and have no place being in Hyderabadi Haleem. Got a terrible stomach ache after eating. There's much better Hyderabadi places across the street, both in terms of quality and quantity. Avoid till they improve their quality and stop ripping off takeout customers. Unfortunately, business owners in our community don't have any business sense. They focus on making a quick buck and end up losing business long term. Have seen with too many places around the area, over the years, running into the ground. Unfortunately, most don't learn. Putting on a topi and kurta pajama in Ramadan and cheating in your business won't help sustain your business, honesty and good...
Read moreI ordered couple times from this restaurant majestic chicken they made it good using old oil and one time I ordered chicken 65 same old oil taste bur taste was not that good and now this time I ordered majestic chicken and again made same old and used oil and I asked for Naan they said ready-made Naan they have so I gave order for paratha and in the name of paratha they give a worst kaccha ata ka something that we can't give any name to that think if I say phulka tho phulke ki tauheen hogi paratha tho door ki baat hai something made kacha ata with lots of flour on it. They remodeled the hotel after that I got this experience. If they sell this in name of Paratha taking money and they not giving us free for anything then for sure there days are near to say goodbye to business. I didn't see what they gave and I just handed over to my family and later my wife said even My 7 years old son told her what is this isku roti thobi bolte. Later I saw after I heard about the food, that is really a not good restaurant food but just throw on the road. Worst food after taking money if you cannot provide good food then you have no right to...
