I really wish I took more photos of the meal before having it tossed but I was here last night and ordered the pasta, chicken, and shrimp as it was part of the special on the board. I get my food and it seemed fine at least the top layer. Bottom half was absolutely nothing but pure grease. If you look at the edges of the meal you can notice the puddles of grease. The noodles seemed like they were microwaved as they were rubbery and most were stuck in hard clumps like they were made a few days ago. Nothing really tasted fresh at all on here which is a shame considering its a seafood place. We got seated at the Blue Bar counter near the front by the hostesses who told us it was fine but then had a person on staff at the Blue Bar who yelled at us to move because he had to put food there. The same person also constantly yelled and belittled staff in front of us. It was awful to watch. Our waitress couldn't even check in on us half the time because she was constantly being yelled at anytime she tried to get by to check on us which resulted in me not even wanting to complain on my meal because it was just awful watching the staff get yelled at in front of us and belittled and I didn't want the same to happen to our waitress who was very nice and very sweet. I wish I got her name as she was excellent at doing what she could in these circumstances. We had a couple next to us who had a different server where the same stuff was happening. If the Blue Section is inconvenient and gets in the way then please remove the seats and don't sit people there for food orders and especially dont BELITTLE the staff. Overall it was a godawful experience. My mother ordered the crawfish which we found out aren't even boiled in the seasoning leaving the crawfish overall quite bland. I've been barfing up grease for the last 12 hours and have had the worst diahrea. Busy or not this restaurant needs to learn to handle itself better. This was absolutely the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I don't ever plan on coming back. Especially since my mother and I drove 20-30mins to go here because it was the only place currently with fresh crawfish which unfortunately ended up being very bland.
Honestly I wouldn't recommend going after the horror show I witnessed and just overall at how awful the food was. Only good thing I ate was the Keylime Pie which I'm pretty sure isnt made at...
Read moreLet me be honest, if I would have left this review after my first two visits earlier this summer this place would have been 5 stars. I was so impressed with their seafood menu selection, great service, and their smart marketing with the free sample platter they bring out and their return coupon they give you at the end of your meal. However, all that has changed now when they redid their menu, got rid of samples and coupons, and unfortuantely the service went downhill too. Our last two visits were pretty awful and it bummed us out b/c I was recommending Fish City Grill to everyone after out great first visits. But now I do not think we will be back. Their new menu is missing quite a few of the items we loved including grilled oysters, cobb salad, and jalapeno soup. They also got rid of the GENIUS idea to have a "Welcome Wagon" free sample platter that they bring out to new guests featuring their soups and oysters. They also used to offer you a 20% off return coupon after your 1st visit and apparently they do not offer that anymore either. The daily samples seem to be the best menu items now. My husband had the swordfish and the flounder (i think) on our first two visits and absolutely loved it. I also have tried the shrimp and grits which was great and my whole family likes the gumbo. Like I said we loved the grilled oysters when we orignally came and were so happy to find good ones here in AR and now they are off the menu! They have a signature appetizer which is oyster nachos and I just am not impressed. They are individual chips topped with a fried oyster and completely covered with too much pico. The oyster is good but the chip falls apart and the pico is too much. I have also had the lobster grilled cheese which was ok but the super smoky bacon was overwhelming on the sandwich and took over the flavor of the lobster. Our last visit the service was rushed, not friendly, and not anything like the great servers we had previously. Also the restaurant was having venting issues and was literally full of smoke, so much that we almost had to leave with my husband's asthma. Overall, it was just a disappointing last visit and new menu overall. They went from 5 stars to 3....and lost a family of...
Read moreVisited on 7/30/25. Normally, seaside is our vacation destination. A landlocked trip this year made Fish City a spot we needed to try. Glad we did. The lighting, fixtures and decor came together to offer a remarkably beachy feel in the hills of Arkansas. So far so good. But would the fish offer the same?
One of the initial draws of FCG was the char-grilled oysters. We were so anxious for them we ordered before looking at the menu. Kaylan took our drink order as well. Should have looked at the menu. They have mocktails! That was the first of a few encounters that most wait staff would find annoying...constantly changing and adding to our needs. Kaylan, our waitress treated each one as if it were the most important thing of the day. Even the ones off menu. Service was scoring well too. Would the fish make the grade?
Char-grilled oysters. Beach Grade. Check. Perfect balance of cheese, butter, and seasoning kissed by the open flame of the grill turned the mid-sized Gulf oysters into done just right ocean gems. The fish and chips offered a light flaky, done to perfection, white fish wrapped in a not too heavy tempura with a fresh oil finish. The fries were great especially when I dipped them into the blue-cheese butter side. One of my special requests, it was an accent for another entree...but Kaylan made it happen. The Crab Cakes were a good balance between breading and crab. Neither ingredient trying to overtake the other. Grilled Chicken and Andouille Sausage over red beans and rice was ordered as a take out and travelled really well serving up a night time tasty treat. It was a contender for star of the show. In the end it was a difficult choice between the oysters and the Fried Banana Peppers for the number 1 serving. The peppers were another change to the order that Kaylan had to deal with. Make sure you check the specials board, that's where I found the peppers midway through the meal. Yeah, the fish made the grade! 5 stars all around for the landlocked beach...
