Mary's Pizza Shack — Restaurant in Rohnert Park

Today around 130pm my girlfriend and I went to Marys in Rohnert park to have lunch. After having a good experience this past Monday I wanted to eat there again in the same week.

When we arrived we were seated just fine and then everything went down hill. Our server/manager took our drink order(water) no problem. Then after she brings the drinks over she asked if we wanted straws yes drops one on the table. Then turns her back towards up and walks away when we were ready to order. After about 10min I got up and asked if she was going to take our order. She said yes. Might I add that there were 3 host another waiter and a bartender. Why the bartender didn't take our order is beyond me as we sat in the bar area. When the manager came back over after another 5minutes. I told her we were ready to order when she dropped off the drinks and you just left. She then proceeded to lie and say I asked and you we weren't ready (check the cameras and you can see in plain site) Then she offers up this insincere apology and starts saying sorry what else do you want me to say. Then I said I want the food to go then she says it doesn't have to be this way you're being rude. The whole time I've been sitting calmly explaining to her mistakes. She proceeds to take the order and ask my girlfriend what else would like with that. Puts the tablet away band then looks at me after grabbing the menus and says to me do you want anything else ? At that point I wanted to talk to the manager which was her ( I didn't know). She came over visibly upset and shaking and I explained to her the situation and said what's going on ? I myself own a local business and this is service is terrible she starts yelling and talking about how she has a mom, daughter and personal things. To which I replied I didn't ask about your personal life. She then proceeds to yell at me saying I'm human have you ever made a mistake. I said yes but you're getting extremely flustered and then HAS THE AUDACITY TO SAY I'M SCARING HER. While I'm sitting down with my hands in my lap talking calmly. Me being a person of color and larger muscular man. Those are words coming from at this point a hysterical white woman on the verge of crying. That can put me in a serious position with law enforcement and others like me for just questioning the service. Had she decided to falsely accuse me of something and if she decided to call the police; When the whole time I was sitting there a muscular man of color calmly with my hands in my lap. That was running through my head at the time.

I am not asking for anyone to be fired but, there needs to be someone better for the position to handle these type of situations. Whatever personal things she had going on carried over to work and her choice of words and insincere apologies were just a shock to me. We opted to just get up and leave at that point and I mentioned as I was leaving; I was here this past Monday with a party and had great service.

The biggest take away from this for me was I was discriminated against because of my size and and the manager couldn't handle someone pointing out her mistakes and then lies to put words in my girlfriends mouth. Please check the cameras and you can see we weren't...

My family and I had called ahead of time to see if a table for a party of 8 was available. The person on the phone said yes there are some tables available, but they might not be available if you wait more than 30min. We got there in less than 10 min because we were staying at a hotel across the way. When we got there I ask for a table for 8. They ask were you the ones that called? I replied yes and they just look at us with a weird look and they kept looking at each other with a funny look. And told us it will be a 30 min wait. When there clearly was two tables available. I ask why the wait if there is two tables available, they said because their waiters need a break. I was like what the heck usually a restaurant has proper coverage and they did have waiters waiting on other customers. Everything was very shady and we ended up walking out. Mind you this is our first time here. And when we walked out a couple walked in and they had no problem sitting them and they even sat them down at the tables in question. So they did have waiters , it either was an excuse they didn’t want to serve us because of our race which was Mexican/American or because they didn’t want to handle a party of 8. When we left we saw a worker pass by while we pulled out of the parking area and he started laughing at us. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. They have the worst customer service and the rudest workers ever at...

This restaurant is new to me and this may not be a fair review. I was looking for something with seafood. I got the pasta and the baby clams. Baby is being kind. Sauce was something that a teenager/beginner would slap on if you had someone like that was living with you. It's more of a meat and potatoes place. My friend had the lasagna and if it didn't look like it came out of a box I would give this place 4 stars. However everybody was friendly and how can you say something bad when it's not their fault. They can only cook us what they can buy.

Update: I recently made some comments above that were not appropriate. Making comments about the food in the way I did was not warranted. The restaurant responded to my post and was kind enough to explain and even offering me to eat there again at no cost to me. I now realize the review was not only not fair from the beginning and should not have made a comment at all. That said, I apologize to the owner and staff. I have been looking for some good seafood lately and when it was slightly less than desired, I took it out on the proprietor. Mary's is a staple in the area and I should have tried something else on the menu. The restaurant was packed when I left. Arriving there, it was empty and had back to patrons.
