Dowling's Irish Pub & Restaurant — Restaurant in Roselle Park

My husband and I went in to watch the Yankees game yesterday for the first time since they re-opened. The space is very nice. We sat at the bar and the bartender made us great LIT's and was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Corned Beef Egg Rolls which were delicious. I had the Prime Rib Sandwich which was not described on the menu. When it came it had onion rings and cheese on it which I would have opted out of. It also came on the well done side which was a little dry. If possible it would be great if you could order that sandwich with a little more pink in it for those of us who eat a little rarer steak :) The chips that came with the sandwich were great but they were piled on top of the sandwich on a smaller plate so it made it messy and awkward to eat the meal. The au jus was very tasty. My husband had the pastrami on a marble rye and no complaints at all - it was all delicious. Take away - we will return. Also, one of the owners came over and introduced himself which was super nice and being in the restaurant business myself in the past is a MUST for building relationships/customers. Good Job! I decided to wait until I had visited a few times after their reopening before writing this review. In the restaurant industry, one off day shouldn’t define the place. Based on my experiences, here’s my take: The bartenders here are fantastic—always friendly, attentive, and eager to make your visit enjoyable. However, the presence of the manager or owner can be a bit off-putting. Their nervous energy tends to create a tense atmosphere. On my last visit, they were openly frustrated about the bar top's appearance, and tonight, I overheard them discussing other patrons in an uncomfortable manner. The food is decent but definitely overpriced. The drinks are good, and the bartenders do their best despite the limited offerings. The place could benefit from more events—trivia nights, karaoke, or live music would add some excitement and draw in more guests. They just re-opened a week ago and it’s much bigger and better!!! We were greeted by the owner Marc with a big smile and a handshake…Our server was Alex who was also as friendly!!! I had a burger and the fresh chips…it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had!!! We also ordered the corned beef spring rolls which were delicious!!!
