Sunrise Noodle House — Restaurant in Rosemead

Sunrise Noodle, a newly opened spot in San Gabriel, brings a taste of Cantonese regional cuisine with a focused. Specializing in steamed vermicelli dishes paired with various meats and vermicelli soups served in clay pots, this restaurant aims for authenticity and simplicity. The menu is only two pages. They also offer rice noodle rolls, teamed in a traditional bamboo bassinet resulting in silky, and fresh noodles.

However, not everything hits the mark. The beef brisket and other meats were disappointingly tough, lacking the tenderness you’d expect from a Cantonese kitchen, especially when compared to other Hong Kong-style cafes in the area. The milk tea, a staple of Cantonese dining, was decent but only available cold, which might disappoint fans of the hot version.

Service is adequate but feels stretched—staff are friendly but seem understaffed, leading to occasional delays. The restaurant’s parking lot in the back is a plus, offering decent spaces in a busy area. Overall, Sunrise Noodle shows promise with its regional focus and standout rice noodle rolls, but the tougher meats and limited drink options hold it back. This is a Shantou family run restaurant. They speak English, Vietnamese, Cantonese, and some Mandarin. Their Hainan Chicken Rice (the rice is cooked with chicken broth, come with choice of house made dipping sauce) and the Spicy Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup are the signature dishes on the menu along with some Cantonese and Vietnamese favorites: shrimp wonton in egg-noodle soup, deep-fried spring egg rolls, pan-fried daikon / radish cake, and fried rice dishes. I went there last Friday afternoon 6/20/25, had the afternoon tea set. The afternoon tea set comes with drinks, so I ordered HK style Lemon tea and was told that it does have FREE REFILLS, I received 1 refill and my friend was getting 2 refills and the owner (she) ran to our table and said it only come with 1(one)refill per order.
