Okay, it's HORRIBLE! It's not the same as it use to be, Took 5 minutes for us to be greeted to even get seated, it wasn't as busy as it usually is but that didn't stop them from ignoring their gust, I mean it was so many seats available it shouldn't been a problem for someone to sit us at a table in a timely manner. not to mention it was a couple waiting to be seated when we first walked in, no telling how long they were waiting. So we get to our booth, we order our food, food didn't take that long to come out, probably because it was cold, we all ordered at the same time, so why didn't all the food come out at the same time đ¤ˇđžââď¸ waited like 10 minutes before I got up and said just cancel my order, it's not like anyone ordered a steak or anything that takes that long, also we order drinks (should've been 4 waters & one Sprite which was for the kids meal) now remember it's five of us. They deliver 3 Waters and 1 Sprite, the math wasn't mathing & we didn't get any straws to go with them our drinks & the waitress never came back to our table so we could at least tell her, we haven't seen her since she took our order, the manager was called over, I cancelled my order that never came out. Kids ordered the pizza off the kids menu and they said it was really doughy, boneless wings came out cold, fries came out cold, I'm just done with these places on Gratiot as far as good food, I'll go for a cheap drink there but that's about it. Talk to the manager, she removed the cold boneless chicken, doughy Pizza & cold fries, receive the bill paid for what was ate, examined the bill to find out we were also being charged for 2 Margaritas we didn't order, I said to the manager how could we have order margaritas when our waitress never came back to the table to even bring us straws. đ¤ˇđžââď¸ This is not the place to go. Neither is Chili's. It's HORRIBLE on this side of town finding a good place to eat, It just needs to be closed down, it's standing on its last leg as far as taste and service. both Applebee's & Chili's... It's not the same. They were already bad before covid now it's worse. Save your money & go to the Westside or on Hall road for decent food, because they're no good restaurants up or down Gratiot, it's horrible!!!! I Hardly ever write complaints unless it's that bad, it was that bad tonight, Save your money and go somewhere else where the food is actually cooked to your satisfaction. Hopefully Applebee's & Chili's get better because I really hate to see them go because I doubt them lasting that long being as horrible as they're now. People shouldn't have to waste their time experiencing horrible food & horrible service, so with that being said if I could I would give it zero stars I would... but I'm being forced to give them at least one star. Manager was just okay, she didn't offer any type of courtesy meal gift card, free appetizer or nothing like restaurants used to do when they dropped the ball. I probably wouldn't have accept it anyway that's just how bad it was. It's no longer your old neighborhood restaurant. RIP...
Read moreI'll give two stars just because the hostess was nice enough to check on us after 20min of being sat without our order of water, and our drinks. My husband, son & I came in for dinner and unfortunately the service was not very up to par. We had ordered drinks and an app right away to help with her back and forth. It took 20+ minutes to get one adult water and 1 kid water, my husband's was never brought out until an additional 15min. We got our app before our drinks, and we ordered the combo app which included: cheese sticks, spin dip, chicken ques & boneless wings. Once the app was served, unfortunately the chips that came with the dip were so smashed up, you could not scoop the dip, the chicken was COLD & then we sat there for an additional 5mins with no silverware. I had to ask the hostesses for silverware. We ate the chicken ques and cheese sticks, then sense the rest was cold - we contacted a manager and she said she would take care of it right away. However, another 20 minutes went buy and still no fixing of the appetizers. We wondered where our stuff was but unfortunately our waitress was no where to be seen. When we finally see her I tried to inform her of what happened with our stuff and she simply said she'd be back but when our actual dinners were delivered, it was not from her and again, we were missing items I had requested in hopes it'd be easier that way so she wouldn't have to run back and forth. Fast forward, we now have been in the restaurant for about 2 hours and we now were getting frustrated and wanted to just leave, but did not receive the bill when we asked for it twice. Then again, we had asked for management and a different manager came to us, and we reviewed our bill and instead of taking the app off, they had charged us for a different one and took that off in hopes we would not catch it? But in fact we did. At no point did we get rude or raise our voices to anyone and somehow we continued to wait. This was a first time I actually wanted to walk out of a restaurant with such poor customer service .. we got our adjusted bill once the new manager talked to the other manager then still didn't wait one minute for us to take out our card for payment, they just left. So then my husband took our bill to the bartender because it's late and we wanted to leave.
I highly would not suggest coming here. The hostess were nice and that's about it. The professionalism and service was terrible....
Read moreWe had not ate at Applebees in a long while, so when my husbands birthday came up he decided he wanted to take everyone out for dinner for his birthday. The first place he mentioned was Applebees. We didnât have a great experience with the food in the past, but wanted to give it another chance since the menu is diverse for adults and kids. We would have 18 people, mix of adults and kids in our group.
We tried calling two days prior to make a reservation because it is a larger group. We were told they do not do reservations, that itâs first come first serve. A bit odd but okay. You would think they would want to prepare for a group like that.
We left tonight and headed to Applebees and I walked in first, and as Iâm looking around I notice there arenât many people inside eating but for some reason a bunch of people waiting for tables.
Iâm asked âHow many?â And I said âOh we have more coming, it will be 18 total.â She said â18?!â I said âYes. Itâs a family birthday dinner.â We were told they couldnât accommodate 18 people. Something about a waitress quitting that day, and they only had one server working. We had a large tip ready to go because we appreciate servers, especially doing a big group.
We just wish the situation was handled a bit better. We understand if wait staff quits then itâs going to be rough. That said though, if a restaurant is open and still has 75% capacity, it doesnât look good turning people away, not because they couldnât but because they didnât want to. To be honest even on the phone call the day prior the person made it pretty clear they didnât want a large group coming.
So we all left and went to Leoâs Coney Island, which is our usual spot for Friday night dinner every week. Leoâs is MUCH smaller, and yet they welcomed us to come and said they would have a big table ready for us. Dinner went great.
The second chance didnât work out. I would recommend Applebees to start a reservation system for large groups; and simply have people pay a deposit on the tables so if they donât show you still keep the money. Or at least not turn people away when theyâre open because they donât feel like doing...
