We had a very odd experience here that made me never want to come back. Im choosing my words very delicately because I'm not one to throw accusations around but I'm not really sure if this was racism, negligence or dishonesty. Either way it should have never happened. We had a table of 6, Mexican/black and one white woman. Not that it should matter but I'm giving you a visual. We were celebrating a birthday. We noticed first that getting service was difficult here and our waiter was frustrated with us because he kept forgetting basic things we needed and we had to ask him. We just figured he was very busy. But then we started noticing that he was giving very different qualities of service to different people. Once again, we thought it was coincidence. An example of one incident was like, my refill was automatic but the black women at the table had to keep asking. I received ice in mine. They received just soda and had to ask for ice. It was very odd and we really tried to not overthink it we thought he was just a bad server or very busy. We had a $650 tab that myself and my friend (who happens to be a black woman) split in half. $325 each. I made sure both tabs had been signed and gratuity was on there and I double checked them both before leaving. As my friends went to the bathroom as we were leaving, their boxed and bagged leftovers were thrown away which was almost 3 full rolls because they barely ate. They asked for replacements for the thrown out food and ended up having to argue with the employees. the employees decided to check the garbage to make sure we were telling the truth. They then told us they checked the garbage and agreed we were honest so they made new rolls and sent us on our way. The next day my friend is looking at her account and it says $400 was taken out instead of $325 like mine. I urged her to go back and find out why because it seemed fishy to me. Turns out they charged her for the rolls they made to "replace" the ones they threw out. It also wasn't the same rolls we originally ordered. They charged her for something she didn't sign for in a very sneaky way and for that they get a one star review from me. Their food was pretty good. Their atmosphere was hot and uncomfortable but it was a pretty place. Service was bad but they were also busy so I give them some credit for that. But the dishonesty at the end was not okay in any way and I don't know what fueled it I just know somehow we noticed this odd feeling all night then suddenly her card is charged extra and not mine....
Read moreI have been to this place several times over the past few years. Today we went in for a business lunch and get some sushi. We went in around noon and there were plenty of open tables and seats at the sushi bar. The group in front of us was not able to just go sit at the bar, they had to be seated by the hostess which seemed a bit strange but OK. It was also very weird to have LED strip lights (probably 8-10 of them for about 40') on the ceiling with flashing/chasing LED patterns with different colors. It made the usually very nice decor look very cheap and gimmicky. Not sure when they were installed or why, but it was very odd looking.
Then we asked for a table for two. She said it would be a 5 minute wait or so. The time to wait was acceptable, but strange since there were many servers and about a dozen open tables or more. As she went to seat us, we asked if we could sit a 4-top even though it was just us two since we had business to take care of, we needed the space. She was very unsure on what to do next, and asked if we could wait another 5-10 minutes if we wanted the larger table. To which we agreed, but again it was strange since there were 4-5 4-top tables obviously not being used at the moment.
We finally sat down and our waitress was nice, and took our drinks. The sushi we ordered was not at the level of where it was the last few times I came here. It was acceptable, but not worth mentioning to anyone for recommendations. When it came we did not have the little plate/bowls for they soy sauce or ginger as well. One of the rolls (I think it was the Lighthouse) had way too much sauce and made it so you could barely even taste the fish...Why?
Lastly, the music was very loud which caused the lunch guests throughout the restaurant to talk louder. This made this location a hard place to actually talk to each other and have a nice lunch.
From now on, I will be going to Mikuni's down the road and will give Blue Nami a rest for now. I am sure I will try again...
Read moreBlue Nami has always been my favorite sushi place in Roseville. I have been going there for over a decade and know that I can always go for a very yummy, very affordable meal. Well, I hadn’t been in a while and come to find out, they drastically changed their menu… when I turned to, what used to be, their 50% off menu, everything was fully priced. So I asked the server “do you guys still have your 50% off menu?” and he gave me some lame spiel (which I’m sure he’s forced to tell everyone) about how they raised their prices, and everyone was upset about it, so now the price on the menu is the new 50% off price of the new value of their rolls, so really I’m actually saving money...? 🤔🤨 But the new 50% off prices are, on average, about $15. So, I’m really supposed to believe that a sushi roll that I used to get for like $7 has a new full-priced value of $30?? I’m sorry, but no… no sushi roll is worth $30 unless I’m eating at Chef Gordon Ramsay’s house, or having some sort of fine dining experience!l Blue Nami sushi is good, but absolutely not worth that much money. So, basically the server sent me on a loop just to tell me that no, THEY DO NOT DO THEIR 50% OFF MENU ANYMORE… Additionally, my partner and I each got a small side salad, which is just the iceberg lettuce mix with cucumbers and their house dressing and costs $5 each, which I wasn’t too pressed about, until I got to the bottom of my salad and found, literally, a pool of watered down dressing…. So on top of raising their sushi prices, they’re also watering down their dressing??? You have to be joking me. My partner and I shared 3 rolls and each had a small side salad and spent about $52 (that’s without tip). What the hek happened to this place??? If I want to spend money like that, I’ll just go to Mikuni. At least it’ll be better quality. Needless to say, Blue Nami has lost a long standing...
